About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Erika Topping Rob Topping

Rob and I decided to move to France to have a quieter life and also so we could spend more time with our son, who was 1 at the time. We visited the Farm on a rainy day in January and fell in love with the buildings and the countryside straight away. If it looked this good in the winter imagine during the summer! We left the next day have bought the farm and have never looked back since. We now have 3 boys, some animals (!) and have settled well in to a lovely community.

Owner's website
Year property purchased 2003
Why this location? We are located in the middle of beautiful countryside yet you can cycle to the local town that has all the amenities we could ever need. It has easy access to the motorway and there are many historic places to visit within a short drive, 10 - 30 mins. We are just a 15 minute drive to many different beaches that are unspoilt and great for children, we love nothing better than picking our children up after school and heading off to the beach for a picnic. Throughout the year you can go out walking on the many coastal paths, that are equally stunning on a stormy winters day as on a sunny summers one.
Unique benefits of property What's unique about our property, well I guess we are a little biased as we live here and love the area and the Breton people.... but we think that we have the perfect place as there is always something to do here, come rain or shine. We have lived here for 12 years now and never have a problem of finding something to do or somewhere to visit.
There are not many places that have historic towns, amazing natural beaches, rivers, some of the best seafood in France landed locally every day, play parks and all on your doorstep. In addition our Cottages are set in the middle of our land, so you have a 100 acres of forest, meadow, river and fields to explore, while at the same time feeling secure that your children can explore as we did when we were their age. Close by we have a cycle path on the old railway line that starts in Roscoff and goes all the way to Concarneau. You can hop on to the track in Rosporden.

But don't take our word for it read the reviews on our website.

The Owner Recommends

Brittany is famous for it's unspoilt beaches and many are within an easy 15 minute drive from Keranmeriet. We have lived here for 12 years now and are still discovering beaches we haven't visited before!

Concarneau is a bustling fishing port (and Frances largest!) and is the best place to buy fresh seafood. There is an old walled town that hides narrow streets and historic houses. Only 15 minutes drive it makes a great place to try out local creperies that Brittany is famous for.

Location and activities

Pony trekking nearby. Free use of mountain bikes Canoes for hire.

Nearest restaurant

Rosporden 2 minutes Pont-Aven 10 minutes Concarneau 15 minutes.

Pont-Aven, only 10 minutes away, is a beautiful town nestling along the banks of the Aven River with its ancient watermills. It was made famous by many artists, one of them being Paul Gaugin and you can now browse the many art galleries and shops.

Quimper lies on the River Odet and is the oldest city in France, well worth a visit, yet only 20 minutes drive away. The beautiful 13th-15th century cathedral has recently been renovated and has beautiful fretwork and stained glass windows. There are a myriad of shops and restaurants to explore, not to mention the many narrow streets.

Breton Festivals - Not to be missed

Throughout the summer months there is a festival on pretty much every weekend and the bigger ones are on for a week to 10 days. There is always lots of dancing, good food (reasonably priced) and a well stocked bar with local cider! Some have fireworks, other have processions and others have dance and music displays and competitions. See our website for more details.

Walks on the Farm

We have 100 acres of beautiful countryside on your doorstep for you to explore, one of the paths recently rediscovered dates from the war when the inhabitants of Concarneau were forbidden to take local wood, so had to travel by horse and cart to the countryside to make charcoal for their fires.

You can picnic by the small lake on the tables provided and spot some of the wildlife, Deer, Coypu, Wild Boar, hares, Kingfishers and Birds of Prey to name a few.

Just returned from another amazing break at this beautiful property. This really is a well presented home from home, everything you need or want. The location is perfect with beautiful beaches, lovely towns, excellent restaurants and attractions for all ages between 10 - 30 minutes away. Erika and Rob are exceptional hosts, always on hand to help or advise, but never intrusive. They are a lovely family who we now consider friends. I've already booked for next year!

Owner response

As always it was such a pleasure to see you and your family again, we have many happy memories of your stay, among others the day we all cycled to Concarneau on the 'voie verte', great fun. We shall look forward to seeing you all again next summer, until then take care and our best wishes, Erika, Rob and the boys

A lovely gite in very quiet surroundings but close enough to the local facilities and lots of different beaches. The eggs from the farm chickens were delicious and we brought some honey from their bees home as well. Pool was great and never very busy.
Accomodation was clean and had everything you could need including lots of very hot water!
The owners were very friendly and offered advice on local facilities.
We would recommend a stay here.

Owner response
