About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Yvonne Davidson

After years of renting in France and often being disappointed by the quality, we decided to buy our own place.

Year property purchased 2004
Why this location? So close to a lovely beach. Great to be able to access cliff walks directly from the house. Wonderful variety of places to visit within the local area and also further afield. Not too far from ferry ports.
Unique benefits of property Large conservatory(veranda) is a super place to relax and enjoy the sunshine, feels like being outside whilst offering a little shelter. Well suited to wheelchair user guests or just limited mobility.

The Owner Recommends

Boulangerie in Kergroes

5 minutes drive. It is walkable but probably takes about 40 minutes for a round trip! The best croissants, gorgeous bread and wonderful patisserie.

Creperie Le Preau

Excellent crepes in a friendly local setting. In the middle of Moelan, easy to reach.

Golf Courses

Lovely course at Queven about 30 minute drive, 6107 metres, par 72. Tel: (00 33) 2 97 05 17 96. E mail: Links course at Guidel (ok on calm days!) 20 minutes drive.

Intermarche supermarket in Moelan (10 minutes drive) has everything you will need. Very good fish counter.

La Veranda

Local friendly Italian in Kergroes. A warm welcome from Alain and Sabine, especially for children. Delicious steaks, thin based pizzas, pasta and salads. Ice cream sundaes are particularly good!

Location and Activities

Very close to the beach, easily walkable in 5 minutes.

Market in Moelan-sur-Mer

Market day is Tuesday. A lively market with fresh produce of all kinds. Fish is especially good.

Moulin du Duc

Delightful setting of an old watermill. Traditional French cuisine, fairly expensive but a real treat!

Nearest Restaurant

La Veranda, Kergroes.

Saveurs de puit

Very good restaurant in the centre of Moelan. Food is imaginative, beautifully presented and tasty. Probably not the best place to take children unless they have adventurous tastes!

Sur le Pont, Pont Aven

15 minutes drive. Smart, modern restaurant serving 'nouveau cuisine' right in the middle of this pretty town.

Walking and Biking

Brilliant coastal walks along miles of well signed paths. Good biking country with cycle paths on main roads.

Good surfing beaches

Beaches which offer excellent surfing a short drive away. Board, kayak, windsurfer hire at Kerfany (5 minutes drive).
Surf school at Kerou (15 minutes drive).
Sailing school Port Manech (25 minutes drive).

Auberge de la mer, Kerfany

Newly reopened with major refurbishment, this busy, modern bar and restaurant is right on the beach with super views across the bay and a great place to watch the sunset. Food is simple but good and the lively, buzzy atmosphere makes for a fun evening out.

Bar des Îles, big red bus

The Bar des Iles in the big red bus at Trenez beach offers a lively venue for an evening drink with tapas a five minute walk away. Also ice-creams and seating inside upstairs on the bus.

We had a wonderful stay in Yvonne's beautiful house situated close to the beach in Kersolf. Our family group of 6 adults & 6 children aged between 3 & 12 found the property very spacious with very comfortable beds & everything you could possibly need provided. A lovely garden surrounds the property & the children enjoyed playing there & the basement table tennis. We had a problem with the dishwasher but this was resolved as quickly as possible with a new machine & in the meantime Yvonne generously provided takeaway pizzas to make up for the inconvenience.I
We would be very happy to stay there again & thoroughly recommend this wonderful house.

Owner response

Thank you Judy, so glad you enjoyed your stay!
Quite happy for people to wheel the table tennis table outside but finding a completely flat surface can be a challenge thanks to the moles!

Our family group of 7, including our three children (17-23) and two girlfriends, enjoyed a fabulous week’s holiday at this beautiful property.

This lovely home is immaculately looked after, spotlessly clean, furnished to a very high standard, very well equipped and all the beds were very comfortable. The ground floor garage is a great place to store bikes, and any other leisure activity equipment, and the table tennis table saw lots of competitive action!

The location of the property is perfect for exploring this beautiful part of Brittany, with easy access to all the main local towns and beaches. We revisited many happy family memories with trips to Pont Aven, Qumperlè, Concarneau and the beautiful beaches at Guidel Plages.

The waymarked mountain bike routes were an added bonus and practically went past the door. Detailed maps and information are available at the tourist office in the lovely Quimperlè at a cost of 3.50€ for the whole of the local area.

The local beach really is only a 5 minute stroll down the road and the coastal path walk is beautiful. The “double decker” tapas/cocktail bar added a buzz to the area in a positive way without seeming to encourage too many hordes, and the mobile creperie did the same. The beach is lifeguarded for bathers’ safety and we spent lovely evenings watching the sailing boats in the distance and stunning sunsets with a glass of local “cidre”.

A fantastic meal at La Veranda completed our wonderful week in a Brittany.

Owner response

Good points
We stayed in Yvonne's house in Moelan-sur-mer reference BF002152. The house was very comfortable with a lovely garden, safe for children. Lots of space inside and outside, and well equipped with garden furniture. The house was well furnished and very clean. The beds were comfortable with nice duvets, etc. It had a welcoming feel when we arrived. The kitchen had everything we needed - lots of crockery and pots and pans etc. and although the kitchen was a bit "dated" everything worked, and the large dining table was perfect for a large family (we were a party of 8, three generations,). Underneath the house there was a large garage/storage space, and a separate utility room with washing machine, dryer, and sink, along with a shower (useful for getting off the sand after a trip to the beach). Again the equipment was good. It was just a short walk (5 min) to a lovely sandy beach, and lots to do in the area (Quimper only about 40 min by car well worth a visit).Overall we enjoyed being in the house and had a great holiday - we hope to return! The owner, Yvonne, was helpful at all times, and the caretaker ( who met us with the key ) was efficient and had cleaned the house thoroughly before we arrived. She came the morning we were leaving and checked everything carefully before giving us back our deposit. We left everywhere clean and tidy so there was no problem.

Bad points
The only negative was not being within walking distance of a nice village to buy the bread for breakfast and to go for coffee/meals, but we knew that before we booked. We reckoned that being so close to the beach was more important for us with the children in mind.
