|Les Gîtes de Kerdalidec - La Crèche||Self Catering||Saturday||2||5||1|
La Crèche is one of the 3 Gîtes de Kerdalidec situated in countryside but within walking distance of the village where you will find a supermarket and restaurants. The building is about 100 years old and was completely renovated in 1998. The clean, sandy beach is only 2km away. Come and have an unforgettable holiday in this unspoilt and untouristy part of Brittany. The rugged coastline and little hidden coves are spectacular at any time of year.
La Crèche has 2 bedrooms and is ideal for a family of 5. It is heated by a woodburning stove and very cosy for winter holidays. The french windows in the lounge lead out into the enclosed private garden but you also have free access to the huge shared garden where you will find a play area and animals to feed - chickens, rabbits and little rare-breed black sheep.
Internet access is available. The beaches in this area are beautiful and have white sand and we are not affected by the green seaweed which causes problems further up the coast.
For babies we can provide a cot, high-chair, stair-gates and toys. The windows have black-out blinds.
I live next door and am always available for help and advice although I am careful to keep my distance unless required!
The kitchen is well equipped with a gas oven/hob, toaster, fridge-freezer, microwave and coffee-maker. Also a radio.
The living room has comfortable traditional French furniture with a 3-seater sofa, an armchair and a rocking chair. The wood-burning stove in winter makes the living area very cosy and warm.
The comfortable bedrooms both have pine ceilings and floors. The adults bedroom has a comfortable double bed and the children's bedroom has a bunk bed and a single bed and is equipped with toys, games and a little rocking horse.
We can provide everything you need for babies....a cot, high chair, stair gates and baby bath.
The shower room has a shower, sink, wc, washing machine, ironing board and iron.
Heating is by wood burning stove downstairs and electric heating in the shower room and bedrooms.
There are loads of things to do in the area. Last year we started arranging deep sea fishing trips which were very successful. There is also a sailing school nearby and a riding centre.
The garden is enclosed, private and faces south-west for the afternoon and evening sun....perfect for BBQs. You are also welcomed in the huge shared garden where you will find a play-area for children with swings and a climbing frame. We also have farm animals which your children can feed....small black sheep, chickens and rabbits.
Parking is in the parking area just next to the house.
Suitable for children but the stairs are steep so not good for elderly people.
We accept one dog but only with prior approval.
Please note: arrival time is after 4pm and departure time is before 10am.
We have been here in Plougasnou running our holiday cottage business since 1996.
|Year property purchased||1996|
|Why this location?||This area is unspoilt and uncrowded. The rugged coast harbours many little hidden coves where you can swim in crystal-clear blue water.|
|Unique benefits of property||Here you will find relaxation, beautiful gardens where the children can play safely, incredible sandy beaches, wonderful restaurants within walking distance.|
Chose a different beach every day of your holiday.....you won't be disappointed!
There is a new creperie at the end of the road, just 5 minutes walk from the cottage, which comes with very good recommendations. It has a good children's menu too.
You can walk to the local supermarket and boulangerie in 10 minutes.
Our local market is every Tuesday morning and you can stock up on fresh oysters (incredibly cheap), locally caught fish, organic vegetables and some of the local cooked specialities like Breton sausage and potatoes.
There are several places locally where you can hire sailing boats, kayaks, wind-surfing equipment and there is also a surf school where adults and children can learn to surf....English spoken.
Visit a Napoleonic fort on an island in the bay of Morlaix....departures from our local jetty.
We can arrange sea-fishing trips for you to catch sea bass and mackerel.
When we arrived we were very pleased with the accommodation, it was even better than the photos in the brochure. A bottle of Sparkling Cider and Sweet biscuits were also left for us. The area was beautiful with fantastic beaches and local markets with such a wonderful array of produce you can only dream of. The local village is just a 5 minute walk where there are lovely little shops and TWO bread shops where you can buy the best cakes in the World. The owner Deborah was very friendly and helpful
WE WILL BE GOING BACK NEXT YEAR FOR SURE
Thanks Ron, it was so nice that your daughters made friend with the other visitors so they could all play together. Look forward to your next visit.
We found the gite charming and spent a happy week there. Though small in scale, it was adequate for our needs (we are 3), and has a lovely enclosed back garden as well as easy parking out front. I would describe it as romantic rather than chic: it has a 'lived-in' quality, and the downstairs furnishings are retro rather than new. This only matters practically if you need a comfortable sofa that gives good back support, or if a roomy shower cubicle is a must. I would also guess that the very steep staircase to the upper floor would not suit anyone with restricted mobility, such as arthritis, especially if using the loo at night is important (the WC is downstairs). The Wi-Fi service is excellent: reliable and fast. The beds are comfortable, and the children's bedroom is delightful. It looks very much as it does on the website. The landlady lives on site and was extremely welcoming and helpful both during the booking process and while we were there. She keeps sheep, chickens, and rabbits in the communal back garden (which also has swings and hammocks); it was a pleasure to visit and feed them. The gite is very conveniently situated for the local village (easy-access croissants in the morning) and for towns, beaches, coastal walks, etc,. in the area. We were visiting this part of Brittany for the first time and absolutely loved it for its varied coastline, agricultural economy, and range of outdoor activities. The restaurant Au Temps de Voiles (Le Diben) is not to be missed.
