About this property

Cute Seaside Cottage 10 Minutes Walk to Village. This cottage/gite is in a coastal setting.

La Crèche is one of the 3 Gîtes de Kerdalidec which are surrounded by fields on the very edge of the village but within walking distance of the centre where you will find a supermarket and restaurants. The building is about 200 years old and was completely renovated in 1998. The clean, sandy beach is only 2km away. Come and have an unforgettable holiday in this unspoilt and untouristy part of Brittany. The rugged coastline and little hidden coves are spectacular at any time of year.
La Crèche provides comfortable, family accomodation decorated in the rustic French style. It has 2 bedrooms and is ideal for a family of 5. It is heated by a woodburning stove and very cosy for winter holidays. The french windows in the lounge lead out into the enclosed private garden but you also have free access to the huge shared garden where you will find a play area and animals to feed - chickens, rabbits and little rare-breed black sheep. WIFI is available in the cottage.

The beaches in this area are beautiful, clean and have white sand. We are not affected by the green seaweed which causes problems further up the coast.

For babies we can provide a cot, high-chair, stair-gates and toys. The windows have black-out blinds.

Bed-linen if required is 8€ per person or you are welcome to bring your own.

End of stay cleaning can be paid for if you don't wish to clean yourselves.

I live next door and am always available for help and advice although I am careful to keep my distance unless required!

Kitchen and dining

The kitchen is well equipped with a gas oven/hob, toaster, fridge-freezer, microwave and coffee-maker. Also a radio.

Living rooms

The living room has a comfortable, modern, 3-seater sofa, an armchair and a rocking chair. The wood-burning stove in winter makes the living area very cosy and warm. Books and games are provided.

The comfortable bedrooms both have pine ceilings and floors. The adult's bedroom has a comfortable double bed and the children's bedroom has a bunk bed and a single bed and is equipped with toys, games and a little rocking horse.

We can provide everything you need for babies....a cot, high chair, stair gates and baby bath.

The shower room has a shower, sink, wc, washing machine, ironing board and iron.

Heating is by wood burning stove downstairs and electric heating in the shower room and bedrooms.

There are loads of things to do in the area. Last year we started arranging deep sea fishing trips which were very successful. There is also a sailing school nearby and a riding centre.

Garden and outside

The garden is enclosed, private and faces south-west for the afternoon and evening sun....perfect for BBQs. You are also welcome, at any time, in the huge shared garden where you will find a play-area for children with swings and a climbing frame. We also have farm animals which your children can feed....small black sheep, chickens and rabbits.

Parking and garages

Parking is in the parking area just next to the house.

Visitor suitability

Suitable for children but the stairs are steep so not good for elderly people.

A comfortable gite in an excellent location. Stairs may be a challenge to those with mobility problems. It is not brand shiny new if that is what is required, but all facilities are there, the wood burning stove a pleasure in the evening and a lovely secluded garden in the daytime. The location is excellent - the walk to the beach at St Jean du Doigt is delightful, there are two excellent boulangeries and a supermarket within a 10 minute walk. The creperie just 100 metres away is excellent. Despite being on the edge of town, the location is rural with plenty of small animals around to delight, sheep, goats, ducks, horses ec.

We have been visiting gites all over Brittany for the last 20 years - this certainly is one of the best. There is plenty to do - sun or rain.

Owner response

Thank you, it was a pleasure to meet you and your husband again.

The gite is as described on the website. Very well located, it is short walk to the creperie and the walk to the beach is delightful. The owner was friendly and helpful. There were plenty of books and games in the gite to keep us amused and the wood-burning stove is a bonus. The seating and bed were comfortable. There is plenty to do in the area, historic sites, boat trips, the large town of Morlaix, seaside and countryside. We had no need to travel far for amusement.

Property ideally situated for exploring the Brittany coast. Amenities available in local town only 10 minutes walk away, including a supermarket, bakery, cafe and restaurants. A sandy beach is within a 20 minute walk.
Although the property is basic, it has everything you need for your holiday, including the small private garden with garden furniture and barbecue. For some the steep narrow stairs may be a problem, and there was only seating for 4 (although the property is for 5).
The owner provided quick responses prior to the holiday, and was available during the stay if required. An information pack was also available in the cottage, plus a welcome bottle of Bretagne cider and biscuits.
I would happily return to the property.

Owner response

So glad you enjoyed your stay with us!

Beautiful rural location, glimpses of the sea and yet close enough to walk into the little town with all the amenities. Deborah was an excellent, well informed and friendly host. We would love to go back.
