South  facing, beach front property
This maisonette has a living area with exceptional panoramic coastal views. The double french windows open onto a balcony that overlooks the dunes, sea, reefs, a small boat anchorage and a protected swimming area.
Linen, towels, bedding, heating, wi-fi, hi-fi, tv, and after stay cleaning are all included in the price.
Situated in the picturesque fishing village of Lechiagat (which shares the harbour with its neighbour, Le Guilvinec), this property gives un-paralleled access to all coastal and cultural activities typical of the Bigouden region.
The entrance hall leads to the twin bedroom, laundry area and there is a door leading to the walled garden at the rear. The upstairs has an open plan living area, kitchen, dining and sitting room withTV and mini hi-fi and leads to the balcony. There is a double bedroom a semi en suite bathroom that can also be accessed directly from the living area.
The rear walled garden has a lawn, patio, shaded seating and BBQ facilities. This garden is occasionally shared with the English owners when they are in residence. At the front there is a drive way and a small garden with immediate access to the dune and family-friendly beach.
Lechiagat and Le Guilvinec  have a wide selection of bars and restaurants featuring fresh fish, langoustines, lobster and crepes as well as other traditional dishes. Oysters and a range of other shellfish can be bought direct from the producer 50 metres from your door. There is a bakery within 5 minutes walk that sells wonderful bread as well as other provisions. Each afternoon the arrival of the busy fishing fleet to land its catch of live langoustines and other produce is an event not to be missed. To gain a greater insight of the fishing industry and history wander over to the Haliotika centre in Le Guilvinec.
Swimming, sailing, snorkelling, kayaking, fishing, hiking, horse riding and cycling are on the doorstep and the coastal path  runs past the apartment. Two mountain bikes are available for guests to use.
The area is an excellent base for bird-watching. Waders are plentiful, kentish plovers nest on the beach and spoonbills are frequently seen on the lake that is 3 minutes walk away and features its own ‘menhir’.
The world renowned west facing Atlantic surfing beach at La Torche is 15 minutes drive away.  The surf schools also provide all the kit you need and  expert English speaking  tuition in ‘stand-up’, kite surfing and sand yachting.
There are 3 golf courses within about 45 minutes.
Lechiagat has an evening market on Friday, during July and August. Larger markets operate in Le Guilvinec on Tuesday and Sunday mornings. The town of  Pont l’Abbe, a 15 minute drive, holds a market every Thursday morning throughout the year. This charming ancient town is also a good starting point for a riverside walk towards the popular sea port of Loctudy. Further to the east lie the resort towns of Benodet and Concarneau.
The historic city of Quimper is at the head of the Odet River valley and is within an easy drive. It is well worth a visit to view the cathedral, art galleries and medieval shopping area. There are various festivals throughout the year, notably the Festival Cornouaille in July.

Includes ceramic hob with fan-assisted oven, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, kettle, toaster, microwave, electric mixer/blender, cafetiere. Ample supply of cooking equipment, china and glass ware. Drop leaf table and dining chairs.

Open plan extending from the kitchen dining area. Polished wood floor with rug. Four easy chairs with side tables entertainment centre and a wonderful view. Double glass doors lead to the balcony, with space for seating and table overlooking the sea.

First floor: Double bedroom with ‘shared en suite’ bathroom. Bedside tables and lights, chest of drawers, full length wardrobe, dressing table and hair dryer. Polished wood floor and window with wooden blind overlooking rear garden.

Childrens cot and an additional inflatable double mattress are available on request

Garden and outside

Small garden at the front. The secluded walled garden at the rear is shared with the owners when they are in residence. There is seating, a patio and barbecue.

Parking and garages

There is room for a car on the drive at the front of the apartment, but most people either park on the peaceful road side or in the small free public car park which is only 50 metres away.

Guests have access to the garage which is used for storing bikes and sporting equipment.

Visitor suitability

Unfortunately the stairs make the property unsuitable for wheelchair users.

Neither smoking nor pets are permitted on the premises please.

Two mountain bikes are available for guest use.

The owners cannot offer use of their watersports equipment but there are 3 buoyancy aids that may be borrowed.

Washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, travel cot , hair dryer and steam iron/board provided.

Bath towels and bed linen are provided and will be laundered for you at the end of your stay.

Our local caretaker is available to answer any queries or problems should they arise.

Why this location? We love being by the sea and this location is amazing. Being so far southwest in Brittany, gives us the benefits of longer days in the summer and winter. There is an activity for every age group or you can sit and relax.

Ancient History

Make a tour of the many menhirs and prehistorc sites throughout the area.


If you want a change of scenery from the beach by the house with its marine pool for protected swimming, there are endless options of other beaches in the area. The vast often deserted Bay of Audienne is not safe for swimming but you could search out a small cove or try the busy resort areas of Ile Tudy, Benodet, Mousterlin and Concarneau. There are even designated naturist areas if you are so inclined.


All year round this is a great location for both the expert and the casual birdwatcher. The owner falls in the latter category but has seen over 80 species within 10 minutes walk of the property including a grey wagtail in the carpark and a sparrowhawk in the garden. The lake has been frequently visited by spoonbills and usually hosts redshank, greenshank, egrets, little grebes, curlew as well as various ducks and gulls. Stonechats, wheatears and cirl buntings abound on the dunes. Kentish plovers nest on the beach and sometimes, at high tide one can almost feel knee-deep in sanderling, turnstones and other waders. More dedicated birders may wish to take a sea trip to the islands or visit the nature reserve at Cap Sizun.

From Quimper, enjoy a river cruise or trip to the Islands


Just borrow our 2 mountain bikes to explore the many tracks and quiet undulating roads in the area or serious cyclists could retrace the 2011 Tour stage that passed nearby.


The coast is indented with rivers and estuaries - many have picturesque water-side paths of varing distance. Try the rivers at Lesconil, Loctudy to Pont l'Abbe or further afield, Pont Croix to Audienne.


Take a boat trip from Le Guilvinec or just cast your line from the beach.


There are courses at Kerbernez, L'Orangerie de Lanniron in Quimper or, for the more serious golfer, Golf de l'Odet at Clohars Fouesnant or Golf de Quimper-Cornouaille at Le Foret Fouesnant.


Haliotika is an exhition of the fishing industry old and new. It is situated in Le Guilvenec and presents itself as an interactive experience for all the family.

Horse-riding and Pony-trekking

There are various riding schools and stables in the area - the closest is 4.3km to the East at Centre Equestre de Kervignan


Canoe or kayaks can be rented for excursions along the L'Odet river and estuary between Quimper and Benodet.


There are many lighthouses dotted along the coast, notably at Penmarch. For a spectacular day trip visit the rugged coast at La Pointe du Raz and Pointe du Van.


It is well worth spending a day exploring the old city of Quimper. Just wander around the river, the ancient streets, galleries, shops and enjoy a drink or ice cream at a bar in the square or visit the Cathedral St-Corentin, the Musee des Beaux Arts or the pottery museum (Musee de la Faience). There is golf or a house and garden tour at L'Orangerie de Lanniron. Quimper is also the starting point for boat trips on the Odet river and to the islands, kayaking to Benodet and Ste Marine.


There are many bars, restaurants and creperies that can be explored on foot in Lechiagat and Le Guilvinec. Slightly further away the owners enjoy eating at Les Champs des Sirenes on the road from Plomeur towards La Torche or at Le Relais de Lodonnec towards Loctudy. For Michelin star dining visit L'Abroisie in Quimper. If you are catching an afternoon or evening ferry home consider arriving early to try one of the many restaurants in the old towns of Roscoff or St Malo.

Beautiful place - just perfect for our stay. We were totally immersed into the local French lifestyle.
The advert accurately described the property. The apartment is clean, well equipped and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped for us to cater for ourselves and we only ate out twice. The local restaurants are very good value and fish amazing. The neighbours are friendly, quiet and gave us some useful tips. We struggled to have enough time to do everything we wanted but did as much as we could - would have gladly stayed a further week or two if affordable and available! The view from the balcony is fabulous at any time of the day. The coastline is spectacular and beaches uncrowded even in the height of summer.
The owners / caretakers communicate very well, were very helpful and are generous with the use of the back garden, their equipment and the welcome gift that was left for us.
We would gladly recommend this accommodation to others.

An excellent property, which is so well equipped and with lots of thought going into making it a comfortable stay. Location is excellent being a stone's throw away from the beach with many fantastic walking and cycling routes available without needing to drive (the two mountain bikes available in the cottage made this even easier) The wider region is beautiful with Quimper and pont de le Torche well worth a visit. We were lucky enough to meet the owners during our stay and they were extremely helpful and supportive throughout the holiday. Highly recommended!

We stayed in this apartment for a week and it was pleasant enough, but not particularly exciting and unfortunately very over-priced.

The apartment is located quite a good 30-minute walk from the town with bars and restaurants. It has a balcony overlooking the sea in the distance, but you cannot see the waves and beach from there because sand dunes obstruct the view. The apartment is small, but modern and well equipped. For two people it’s fine, but with any more it would feel very cramped.

The beach is not beautiful, but rather rugged. There are large, sprawling rock formations in the shallows making swimming difficult and even dangerous. Sunbathing is ok, if you are prepared to accept the sulfurous whiffs, which smell like sewage.

The owners were generous and helpful. They allowed us to take some of their garden herbs and they replaced a broken shower cord quickly.

We were surprised that we had to wait nearly two weeks for the return of our security deposit, although the owners were there on our departure and could see that we’d left the apartment spotless and without damages.

All in all an OK stay, but we wouldn’t return here, even if it was priced a lot lower.

Within the gite terms and conditions, I do advise clients that the damage deposit would be returned within 2 weeks of departure.
within my records for this year, yours was the only T&C sheet that was not returned, therefore i am unsure that you had read all our terms and conditions
I had tired to send the deposit through to your bank, however was unable to as you had provided me with the incorrect bank information, this proved problematic.
I advised you of the above and with your updated information, returned the deposit in full within the 2 week stipulation

The pictures uploaded onto our advert are a true representation on the view from the balcony - as mentioned in your comments . we have not misled or misrepresented our location or view from the gite.

I agree that we were there during your stay. During this period we were not affected by the any 'sulphurous smells' from the beach

Within the booking information, we do advise guests about the swimming and reefs in the area. We have endeavoured to ensure the safety and security of guests , whilst enjoying the beach.

we are sorry that you did not enjoy the area and local amenities . This is the first poor review in respect of the venue and we have been running the gite now for 4 years
