Estuary House is a spacious, light and airy detached property just perfect for family reunions or lots of friends who want to relax in gorgeous surroundings. This idyllic location is semi-rural just 1 mile from the pretty medieval village of Le Faou which boasts several restaurants, creperies, bars and all necessary shops. Large supermarkets are just 5 minutes away.

The house itself sleeps 12 comfortably and comprises 6 lovely bedrooms, 2 family bathrooms, 2 shower-rooms and 4 separate toilets. A huge open-plan sitting room, dining room and kitchen offer spacious living and there's also a laundry room and well-stocked library on the ground floor.
 
The stunning 31ft living and dining room has 3 sets of frenchdoors leading out onto a south-facing sun-drenched balcony with spectacular views over the estuary. The kitchen and 5 of the bedrooms all have the same view looking over an acre of orchards and gardens which run right down to the estuary at the bottom.

Kitchen and dining

The kitchen is fully equipped with a large fridge-freezer, microwave, dishwasher, coffee-machine, toaster, food processor, stick blender and a huge gas oven with grill and 5-burner hob.

The cupboards are filled with plenty of glassware, crockery and cookware and we even have plastic plates and cutlery for the little ones, plus one booster seat and a highchair. We've found the kitchen to be a very practical layout, particularly as other guests can chat to you from the dining area. The solid oak dining table is 2.6m long and easily accommodates 12 people.

There's a further fridge/freezer in the garage.

Living rooms

The 31ft (9.4m) sitting and dining room - from here you will see the most stunning view of the estuary through the 3 sets of french doors leading out on to a south facing balcony overlooking the pool and gardens.
The sitting room, dining room and kitchen form an L-shape giving a very spacious feel to this area.

The sumptous leather seating area surrounds a solid oak coffee table, and in the corner is a TV and CD/DVD player with USB socket for your MP3/iPod. We have UK satellite TV together with a PVR to allow recording/pause/rewind of programmes.   Please note - the USB socket is only compatible with JPEG/MP3/WMA files.

Bedrooms

All of the bedrooms are very bright and sunny, furnished in an attractive contemporary style and they all benefit from new beds, mattresses, pillows, duvets and bedding. They also have new bedside tables, reading lamps, bedspreads and rugs. We have provided 2 pillows per person with ample spares if required, and all of the bedlinen is cotton, duvets are all duck/goose feather. Five of the 6 bedrooms overlook the south facing garden with spectacular views of the estuary and the one that doesn't, has a picture of the view! There is also a hairdryer in each bedroom, and 3 hot water bottles, just in case...... For babies and toddlers we have 2 new travel cots, cot mattresses and 2 booster seats which attach securely to dining room chairs. These items must be arranged in advance. 5 of the 6 bedrooms have either shutters or blackout blinds. For each person a bath sheet and hand towel will be left on the beds.

Bathrooms

There are 2 family bathrooms with over-bath showers, one of them also has a bidet and a Jacuzzi bath. Two of the bedrooms have en suite showers and basins and a further 2 bedrooms have their own wash hand basins. There are 4 separate toilets, one on each floor.

Heating

Oil-fired central heating plus electric wall radiators for extra heat if required.

Entertainment

Apart from the pool which provides endless entertainment, the library houses hundreds of books, games and DVDs.

Garden and outside

The completely secure gardens cover roughly 1.5 acres and benefit from an orchard of apple, pear and cherry trees. There is masses of space to run around in so you can let the children and dogs roam free.

From the garden, a path (gated) winds through a meadow down to the shoreline, a picnic table right by the water enables you to enjoy the magical evening light. The garden is accessed via either the driveway, the library or 1st floor balcony. The huge deck 11m x 4m is adjacent to the built in Plancha & Charcoal BBQ and is perfect for al fresco dining.

The fully enclosed heated pool is 8.5m x 4.6m (28' x 15') is and is a uniform depth of 1.4m so is perfect for adults and children alike. We aim to heat the pool to 27ºC from Easter to the end of October but either side of summer this will very much depend on ambient temperatures, particularly at night. It's serviced by an automatic system that continuously monitors the quality of the water ensuring optimum conditions at all times.

Parking and garages

Three cars can be parked on the drive, with space for a further 2 cars on the grass verge.

Visitor suitability

Although there are lots of stairs, the house is suitable for the elderly or infirm as once you're on the first floor you have the sitting room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom and a toilet on this level so you only need to use the stairs when going to bed or leaving the house.
We also have a golf buggy for guest use to transport the less mobile backwards and forwards to the shore.

We were looking in Brittany for a 2-bed bolthole with a low maintenance garden for the odd weekend break. Then we stumbled across Estuary House with 6 bedrooms and nearly 2 acres of garden! What a joy it's been though, such a stunning location to spend time, and now we share it with dozens of guests every year. It's just perfect for family reunions.

Why this location? We live in Plymouth so it's very convenient to just hop onto the ferry there and then once on the other side at Roscoff, it's just a 50 minute drive to the house.

We had a wonderful time. The house was perfect for us - an extended family group with ages ranging from 3 to 70 years. We spent most of our time in the house and garden. The kitchen was very well equipped, the outside cooking and eating area was ideal and the garden and pool were both very safely fenced so that we could relax and let the children play freely. The pool itself was very well used although I suppose we were lucky with the weather. Everything was very well organised with lots of suggestions for things to do and helpful notes about all the equipment and facilities. The bedrooms were delightful with comfortable beds and lovely views of the estuary. Le Faou is a charming town with some excellent shops - we particularly enjoyed the fishmongers (very reasonably priced langoustines) and the bakers in the centre of town who produce the most wonderful buttery croissants and pain au chocolat, although be warned, they are closed on Wednesdays. We went home very reluctantly.

Estuary House is absolutely magnificent. It is not only in a beautiful place, but the care the owners have taken in creating an environment of great beauty and comfort is exceptional. The beautiful polished wood, the wonderful tiled hallway and bathrooms, the well-appointed kitchen with absolutely everything one might need, the retractable awnings and the magnificent verandas - both on the ground floor and first floors. The bedrooms were gorgeous - firm mattresses and wonderful down pillows. The garden is beautiful with its heated pool and heavily laden fruit trees, from which we made an apple pie. So much care has been taken to put together really useful guide books which we used to visit local beaches, historic towns and restaurants.

excellent house and location, everything we could wish for, a real home from home. our group ranged from 3 years to 68 years including teenagers and everyone enjoyed it. The pool was a huge plus and was used everyday. the house had everything you could wish for including a superb decked area for outside eating. I would highly recommend this property.

Fantastic holiday home in a great location. Local village has lots of restaurants and shops with a supermarket not far away. Lots of white sand beaches within easy reach. The pool was used daily. The owner has provided excellent local guides which were informative and detailed. Easy comunications with the owner throughout.
