The footpaths around Plouhinec lead out into the middle of moors and stones, age old shelters for majestic monuments; as far as the banks of the Goyen, a magnificent river which meanders along too Pont-Croix, or else out to the coast, dotted with long beaches of fine sand punctuated by little creeks. Surrounded by 8km of coastline, Plouhinec draws its strength from its diversity. One of landscape but also of heritage. In this way coming round a valley, one can stumble upon charming 16th or 17th century churches; for example St Winoc, an absolute gem entirely restored under the auspices of the County council and the Restoration Committee. One can equally discover sites whose history goes back to the beginning of time; marine grottos marked by the burns of the first fires and protecting archaeological riches 500,000 years old.
Brittany is said to be one of the perfect tourist destination spots as it offers something for everyone. Whether you are after recuperation, gastronomy, activities or cultural regeneration, Brittany has something to offer you. There are all manner of watersports available, from surfing to sailing, scuba diving or canoeing to kitesurfing. Also recognised as a cyclist and walkers heaven, Finistere boasts some of the most stunning cycle paths and walking routes available. Brittanys moderate climate attracts people from the UK and Ireland because it is warmer, people from Paris because it is more bracing and people from the South in summer escaping excessive heat.
Lovely traditional property in a quiet but convenient location: Boulangerie just up the hill; unspoilt beach 10 minute walk; Audierne a few minutes drive. Excellent for young children with plenty of space inside and out for two families of four, particularly the enormous walled garden. Maggie and Wayne were excellent and welcoming hosts. We had a lovely holiday.
A wonderful property with fabulous hosts and lots to do nearby. The house exceeded our expectations and we had a wonderful trip!
Thank you Ann for your kind words on the house and your holiday .
The children were a delight and they were so excited to be on holiday with their cousins .
It was a real pleaser to have you stay .
We would love to welcome you back any time with cousin's at Maison de la Mer
Or just yourselves at our other property in Audierne Rue Kleber if just the four of you .
Enjoy the rest of the summer .
Your bond is on its way .thank you for looking after the house always much appreciated .
Our kind regards .
Maggie and Wayne .
We enjoyed our two weeks in Maison de la Mer.
The weather was excellent. Plouhinec is a very quiet area almost adjacent to the port of Audrienne.
We found the house clean and very comfortable. The garden is approximately 80 metres long and 30 meters wide and is surrounded by an 8 or 9 foot wall, and is ideal for children to play in. Maggie and Wayne who own the house live next door and are very nice people. They are there to help if needed but are by no means intrusive. I would recommend this house to families especially as the area and the house and garden are ideal for children.
Hi Both ,so sorry the house did not meet up to my usual high standards .
I'm a little disappointed as I have never had such low scores .
Perhaps you could em me with what you felt was not perfect and I can somehow rectifie ASAP .
Facilities I don't know what else I could offer very well equipped kitchen from cooker to weighing scale to mixer all the large items and all small equipment even separate utensils for the bbq .
Comfort again we have two lounges with comfortable settees and chairs good mattresses .
Nice rugs for that extra comfort underfoot .we have a large selection of games indoor and out jigsaws DVDs radio CDs books for all ages .wifi .
I know the wifi was not on some of the time but that was out of my hands ,I had no tel or wifi myself .as there was a major problem on line with orange once the technichen arrived it was all ok .
Regarding price I'm afraid you chose to book through Trip Advisor A much more expensive site .
If you had booked through .Holiday France Direct you would have had a small booking fee of £29
Plus a 20% dicount off your Brittany Ferries trip ,well worth remembering if visiting Brittany another time .setting I found very strange as you said how lovely the gardens and different areas were
The peaceful relaxing feeling and so close to the beach and town .
I hope this has not put you off this beautiful area of Brittany and would welcome you back to perhaps our smaller house in Audierne ,Rue Kleber our kindest regards Maggie Wayn
Lovely property gardens were enormous Maggie and Wayne couldn't have been more helpful.
Hi many thanks for your kind words .it was a pleasure to meet you all.
