What our guests say:
July 2018 - "you would be hard pressed to find a better holiday rental.the cottage is perfect, with everything you could wish for.the photographs don't do it justice. we booked here to fish the nantes/brest canal just outside your front door.i was not sure what to expect from the fishing,as it was hard to find any info about the canal.well trust me it's excellent.fishing the chopped worm and feeder,or on the pole it's bream galore to 5lb+ along with roach, hybrids, and perch.plus a bonus grass carp at 17lb for my wife Anne. if you are going on a family holiday, and your an angler you must sneak some fishing gear in the car you won't be disappointed, and your less than 100 meters from the family. as for Derek & Margaret they are a lovely couple, helpful and friendly."
September 2016 - "My wife and I have just returned from our first ever visit to Brittany and I think we both agree that Kerneatreat le petit is a fantastic place to stay. Location to Roscoff ferry port is ideal and easy to get to, we couldn't belive how quiet the roads were. If you want peace and tranquility to get away from it all this is the place to stay. The setting is fantastic nestled among pine trees about a 100 metres from a beautiful canal with towpath stretching for miles and miles making it ideal for cycling and walking. The gite itself was ideal for us both just to sit back and relax but also visit some amazing places. Everything you need is supplied by Derek and Margaret the owners who are so helpful and friendly but not intrusive. Our visits included Huelgoat, a must see medieval village with a walk that's full of myth and legend. Whilst you there visit the little bakery in the village next to the supermarket in the corner, the Baguette and the tea was the best we had all week with friendly service. Concarneau is a must see as well especially the Ville Close with its little gift shops and places to eat. About a mile up river is Pont de Roy and a restaurant and pizzeria where we celebrated our 23rd anniversary with a lovely meal. The owners were so helpful with the menu here as well. Overall I give Kearneatret 12 out of 10 and I know I'll go back there to see some more of the area as there is so much to do."
August 2015 - "The house suited us and our young children very well. The kids loved the splash pool and being able to wander up the lane blackberrying. It feels very secluded, yet is just next to a beautiful canal where we spotted kingfishers, herons, lots of frogs and crickets. We did lots of walks from the house, as well as daytrips to Carnac and the coast, and ate outside every night watching the swifts. Felt very lucky to have happened upon it on Tripadvisor."
July 2015 - "We have many cottages, in France, and there is always room for improvement, however Le Petite was near to perfection. A truly beautiful location, wonderful surroundings, with peace and relaxation by the bucket load. The cottage was characterful, well equipped, beautifully appointed, upstairs toilet and bathroom, comfortable beds, furniture, bedding etc all of good quality. The garden is beautiful attracting wild birds. And at the end of the garden are excellent walks. We would highly recommend a stay here"

We are both retired, in our early 60s and enjoy walking, cycling, gardening and travelling. We have 2 children and 3 grandchildren. We fell in love with France when we first came here when the children were very young and always wanted to buy a house here. Our dream came true in 2011 when we moved from the UK and we have lived in Chateauneuf du Faou since then.

|Why this location?||The cottage is in a fabulous location. It is in the heart of the countryside, secluded but not isolated, being only 2 kms from the pretty market town of Chateauneuf du Faou. The location is so quiet and tranquil with the only sounds coming from the frequent visitors to our bird feeders. The River Aulne which forms part of the Nantes Brest canal is close by, offering opportunities for walking and cycling with ever changing scenery and wildlife along its banks. The beaches of the Crozon peninsula, the north (pink granite) coast and south Finistere are all within easy reach.|
|Unique benefits of property||Previous guests have said it all, for example "the most tranquil place we have ever been"|
Beautiful sandy beaches and rugged unspoilt coastline on the Crozon peninsula and round the Baie de Douarnenez, in particular Pentrez Plage, Telgruc sur Mer and Camaret. Also the Pink Granite coast to the north.
Over 580 varieties of crepes and galettes to choose from at the St Come creperie near Pentrez Plage. Great pizzas at le Chaland on the river at Chateauneuf du Faou. Great choice of traditional French cuisine at Hotel de la Cornouaille.
Château de Trévarez which overlooks Châteauneuf-du-Faou.
Oceanopolis in Brest, rated one of the best aquaria in the world, is a great family day out 50 minutes away.
Nature lovers staying in Châteauneuf-du-Faou are spoilt for choice for day trips.
Ile de Batz near Roscoff - a beautiful little island with a superb tropical garden.
The magnificently natural Ile d'Ouessant, forms part of the Armorique Nature Reserve which encompasses many of the smaller islands off the Finistere coast.
Huelgoat - amazing rock formations and water features at the 'Chaos' in Huelgoat.
Quimper - explore the beautiful old town with its cathedral, shops, bars and restaurants; enjoy the open air ice rink at Christmas.
There are a number of excellent golf courses in Finistere, the nearest ones situated at Carhaix 15 miles, Brest 40 miles and Golf de Cornouaille at Foret Fouesnant, near Quimper.
There are frequent music festivals throughout the summer to enjoy, as well as a sensational Jazz Festival which occurs on the banks of the River Aulne, a truly magical setting. The Les Vieilles Charrues Festival in Carhaix in July is a must for contemporary music lovers too. The Bout du Monde festival in Crozon in early August also attracts top names.
What a wonderful thing Derek and Margaret have going on there and what nice people they are. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Despite two unfortunate rainy days, the comfort of Kerneatret more than made up for it. My eldest daughter is about to leave for university and it was the perfect place for us to bond altogether before life sweeps us off once again to our fresh challenges.
If the beauty of nature impresses you, look no further, it is here in abundance. The canal nearby is great for walking by, cycling the paths or even kayaking. The town a few kilometres away is pretty but I would have to say, very quiet. Do visit the chateau on the hill in the distance, the gardens are stunning.
All in all, you won't be sorry.
Thanks for your review. It was a pleasure to meet you and see you all having such a good time.
