Ty Guen is a sunny west facing breton style 3 storey detached house in a quiet position just 500 metres from the centre of the thriving holiday location of Audierne with all its bars and restaurants. The access is down 9 steps from the narrow lane to the house and garden. There are 3 double bedrooms, an open plan kitchen and lounge dining area, a downstairs bathroom with shower, basin and toilet, and a conservatory. The garden has an enclosed grass area and a large gravelled patio ideal for barbecues or just lounging about. This overlooks fields and traditional town landscape.
This nicely appointed holiday home is ideal for families. The house has been lovingly and comfortably furnished. The kitchen is well equiped for family entertainment and is situated next to the dining area which has direct access to the patio.
The property is situated in the heart of Brittany close to many sandy beaches and within 10 minutes walk from the centre of town. In the nearby town of Esquibien can be found a swimming pool/leisure pool, a baker's and 2 supermarkets. The area is very suitable for cycling, boating, sailing, canoeing, windsurfing, surfing and walking.
The house is in Audierne with its fishing port and marina and it boasts a superb Saturday market which mustn't be missed. Just 40 minutes drive away is the ancient city of Quimper with its magnificent cathedral, many bars, walks and shops. Also, 25 minutes away can be found the town of Douarnenez with its famous maritime museum and port.
The house has all the modern facilities to accommodate 6 people and all the rooms are well equipped.
This a non-smoking property and we do not accept pets.
Cottage/Gite
The family kitchen dining room area is ideal for entertaining, and is well equipped with table and chairs for 6 people and it includes a fridge-freezer, a dishwasher, a microwave oven and an electric oven with gas hob.
The living room is furnished with a settee and easy chairs and is part of the dining area which opens out on to the patio and garden. There is French tv and English freesat, a dvd player and a radio/cd player.
The bedrooms are situated on the first and second floors. The first floor has 2 double bedrooms with double beds and the second floor bedroom has 2 single beds. Pillows, duvets, bed linen and towels are included. Beach towels and flannels are not included.
The bathroom is situated on the ground floor and has a shower, basin and toilet. The washing machine is also situated here.
The house is heated with electric heaters in each room. The dining room/lounge and bathroom are heated by off-peak nightstores. The hot water tank is also on off-peak and is situated in the bathroom. For the period Mid September to Mid April a supplement of 40pounds per week is required for the heating.
French tv, and English freesat tv, dvd player, radio/cd player. A selection of dvds and cds are available. There are books and games as well. We do not have wi-fi but a good 4G mobile phone reception. Wi-fi is available in the local cafes.
Good-sized enclosed west facing garden with a large gravelled patio area with patio furniture and bbq for outside dining or just relaxing.
Street parking is 25 metres away and there is always plenty of space. The property is approached by a narrow lane and is only suitable for a very small car.
The house is suitable for those wishing to explore the local rural area with its many coastal walks. It is ideal for discovering the many traditional villages by bike and is only a 20 minutes' walk to the safe family beaches of Audierne and St. Evette with its sailing school. Within a 12 minutes car ride there is the famous surfing beach of St. Tugen.
Unfortunately, the property does not have wheel chair access as there are 9 steps from the lane down to the house and garden.
A fee of £50 will be charged on departure for cleaning should you require this facility.

Audierne has many restaurants and creperies for local cuisine along with its wonderful sandy beach. There is an aquarium which also has an amazing bird show. One can take the river walk along the Goyen to Pont-Croix. There are weekly markets in Audierne, Pont-Croix, Plogoff and Douarnenez. St.Evette offers sailing facilities including windsurfing, canoeing and paddle boarding. There is also a daily ferry service to the Ile de Sein from St. Evette. Horse riding stables are located in Plogoff. There are many coastal walks and cycle routes to explore. The Point du Raz, France's most westerly point, gives views of the islands and is a conservation area full of wild habitat. During the summer months the Fest Noz festivities are a must participation for food and dancing traditional Breton style.
We really enjoyed our stay at Ty Guen - the facilities were excellent and the property was ideally located for the town centre and beaches. Audierne is a very picturesque town. Highly recommended.
