The cottage is ideal for families or couples/friends wanting a quiet beach and/or walking/cycling holiday. Our guests are usually young families with grandparents or couples and friends exploring the beautiful local countryside and seaside walks. The double bedroom and bathroom downstairs makes it particularly attractive for people with walking disabilities.
We have had loads of great guests staying with us since 2007. Feel free to contact us and we can show you their feedback - many of them have returned for repeat visits and we have 2 groups that come every year!
Hi,
We are a family of 4, with children aged 16 & 13. We wanted a holiday home in France that we could share with our family and friends. We spent a while looking for the right location for us and happened to rent a house in Sainte Marine - as soon as we arrived we realised this was the place for us!

We rent out the cottage simply to cover our costs & have had many great guests staying since 2007, many of which return regularly.
|Year property purchased||2006|
|Why this location?||We instantly fell in love with Sainte Marine as it has everything we wanted as a family. All facilities are within walking distance so you don't need to use the car - our parents come regularly to the house without a car.
We've renovated and decorated the cottage to provide a home from home with the creature comforts you'd expect and plenty of equipment, quality tv and space for the family.
Sainte Marine has a picture perfect harbour with fantastic restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. From wonderful french cuisine to pizza and crepes. The local boulangerie is at the end of our road.
The beach on the other side of town is a beautiful white sandy beach perfect for families. Nearby Benodet beach has activities and night life.
Whilst Sainte Marine has everything you need for a holiday it remains tranquil, calm and friendly but if you want a busier atmosphere, Benodet, Ponte L'Abbe and Quimper are only a few minutes away by car.
|Unique benefits of property||Our house is great for families holidaying together. We often come over with grandparents who can have the 'easy access' downstairs bedroom away from the rest of the family with their own bathroom next door.
We also come with friends and put the kids together in one room using the single beds with a third pull-out option.
The house has ample room for all the guests - you don't feel on top of each other the whole time. The garden is big enough to kick a football around or put up a badminton set and is completely fenced off with hedges providing privacy.
One of the best features of the house is the large, west facing terrace, which gets the sun from lunch until it dips down behind the trees at sunset. Many a sundowner has been enjoyed with a glass of wine or beer and perfectly cooked bbq!
During Spring and Autumn the large wood burning stove gives a warm and cosy atmosphere in the living room and warms the whole house. Electric radiators are also fitted in all rooms.
We enjoy spending time on the beautiful beaches and the fantastic walks and bike rides in the area. A particular favourite is a 5km walk/cycle along the beach to Ile Tudy, just on time for a well deserved lunch. There is a lovely costal walk passing the old fort (now an art gallery) and interesting lighthouse with views to Iles des Glenan and across the the river to Benodet ending up in the picturesque harbour in Sainte Marine.
We love eating out as a family and always look forward to visiting Sainte Marine as the local restaurants are really something special. As well as the normal crêperies there are some top quality eateries, one with a Michelin star. They offer surprisingly good value too.
Our particular favourites are Bistrot du Bac, Café du Port and for something special Villa Trimen. Café de la Cale also offers coffee, drinks and appetisers in a fabulous setting.
Another real treat is the boulangerie, only a 5 minute walk from the house with fresh bread and pastries. 2 deli's are also within walking distance for a broader food offer.
In the summer months it's fun to catch the ferry to Benodet, particularly popular on a Monday with it's large weekly market. Sainte Marine also has a market on a Wednesday with local food and craft stalls. The crêpe van is well worth a visit.
Surfing lessons are popular with the children - we recommend the surf schools in La Torche 20 minutes to the west. The sunsets from here are spectacular. Lovely crêperies provide a great way to round off an energetic day.
There are numerous little harbours and interesting towns, lighthouses and fish markets to explore in the area along with the beautiful beaches that Brittany is famous for.
Canoes are available to rent in the summer to explore the Odet river and it's inlets around Sainte Marine. However if you just want to relax and watch the boats go by the harbour is a great place to while away the time.
