|L'Aile Ouest||Self Catering||Flexible||2||4||1|
L'Aile Ouest is our self-catering 2 bedroom gite, and benefits from a private access from our lane, a short walk to the Bay of Morlaix coast, 3 beaches, 2 restaurants, and a sailing school.
Your bed linen and towels are included in the rental, as well as a welcome pack of our own free range eggs, bread, butter, jam, milk, and a chilled bottle of cider. Tea, coffee, and sugar is always stocked for your home away from home.
Your private terrace leads on to a large fenced garden. Our gite has the modern conveniences you'll appreciate, but retains it's original charm.There is wi-fi internet access, French or English tv, and a dvd player. We are a short 10 minute walk to the beach/coast, and in season, to the two restaurants at Terenez.
Nearby there is a diving school, surfing school, Eco Park (zip line), and golf course.
The kitchen and dining areas are open plan and shared with the lounge. The appliances include electric hob and oven, and a dishwasher. There is also a toaster, microwave, coffee, tea, and sugar and enough pots, pans, plates, glasses, and cutlery for a full dinner.
The living room area has a sofa, television DVD player, and coffee table. It is an open plan area with the kitchen/diner.
The bedrooms are upstairs and each bedroom has a double bed, chest of drawers, night stand, and hanging rails. The original windows provide plenty of light, but have been fitted with blackout curtains for those that prefer a lie-in.
A bathroom is upstairs with the bedrooms and was installed in the gite in when we renovated in 2015. The bathroom has a shower, sink, toilet, and towel rail.
Each room has a wall mounted electric heater that is controlled on the unit.
A television with built in dvd player is in the lounge. The TV can be set for UK or French Freeview channels. A selection of books (english), dvds (multi-language), and games are in the bookcase for your entertainment.
A south facing, fenced terrace with outdoor seating is at the rear of the gite, and our guests are welcome to use the large lawn area for games, picnics, sunbathing etc. . Our small dog, Jasper, is very friendly, as are the cat, Clicquot, and chickens, Penny, Ruby and Lulu.
Next to the gite is a garage, which is available for you to store bicycles. You are welcome to park in front of the garage (off street), or along our lane. There is very little traffic beyond the occasional farm vehicle, as there are only four houses beyond ours.
The gite is most comfortable for three adults, or two adults and two children.
Access is easy in the gite, but there is stairs with a handrail to the bedrooms and bathroom. We have some items for small children, (travel cot, high chair, and toys) that are suitable for children under 2 years old.
We have an easy life now that we've retired, but seem busier than when we worked. We enjoy meeting our guests and walks on the beach. If we are not gardening in the potager, we are at the market having coffee or sitting out in the warm sunshine.
|Year property purchased||2012|
|Why this location?||We love Finistere, France for the simplicity of life, the people, lack of traffic and crime, and the weather.|
|Unique benefits of property||Our property is a short walk from the beautiful Bay of Morlaix coast, and several beaches. The gite was renovated in 2015, and has most of the mod cons you would expect to be comfortable, but still retain its traditional charm. Next door is a riding school, and less than 1 kilometer walk there are 2 restaurants, and a sailing school.|
The coastal walk passes within 200 meters of the gite, and is continuous from Morlaix to Locquirec. The sections from Le Dourduff en Mer to Plougasnou are not too difficult. The Plougasnou to Primel Tregastel section is a bit more challenging.
You can walk to either of these beaches in about 10 minutes, or drive and park at Ty Louzou. The beaches are not crowded, and are will seem like you own personal beach once you are there.
If you tire of the slow pace of these beaches,in the high season (late July and August), you can catch the free bus at the end of our lane to any of the other area beaches, and the town of Plougasnou.
The former riding school is next door to the gite. The field that separates us often has horses grazing in it. Our neighbor, Thierry runs the farm and the livery.
Every Tuesday throughout the year, there is a local market in the town square that ends at about 12:30pm. In the high season (late July and August), the same square hosts evenings of various kinds of music and food.
Every Saturday throughout the year, there is a large market in Morlaix (15 min drive) that ends at about 2:00pm. Free parking is at St Nicholas, or the Centre for Public Finance.
House very clean and well equipped.
Quiet area (but we were out of season)
The garden is very small. I know you can use the owners next door, but it would be nice to have your own space and loungers to relax in when it is sunny.
The internal walls are very thin.
