About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Anne Norris

Hi there - I'm Anne and I own Brittany Cottage. My family & I just love our cottage in beautiful Brittany - we feel so relaxed when we're there! Love the beach, the pool, the food etc. Although we live in the UK, we try to get over there whenever we can. I have an excellent relationship with my property manager in Brittany who works with me to ensure that your holiday is a comfortable and relaxing escape - after all that's what we all work for!

Year property purchased 2010
Why this location? Just 45 minutes drive from Roscoff Ferry Port, this area of Brittany is home to stunning coastline and beautiful, award winning beaches. It's also on the edge of the Armorique National Park and is surrounded by pretty medieval towns and villages. It's a great area for adults and children alike.
Unique benefits of property You can't beat it's location - on a complex with many amenities including a pool as well as being less than 10 minutes walk to the beautiful Pentrez beach.

The Owner Recommends

Armorique Regional Park

Over 425,000 acres of beautiful and diverse landscapes and scenery. Activities include fishing, cycling, walking and horse riding. Or just simply sit at a rustic picnic table under a clear cerulean sky, tucking into freshly-baked baguette, cheese and sweet cherry tomatoes, and marvel at the beauty that surrounds you.

Crozon Penninsula

The Crozon Peninsula offers breathtaking landscapes and the beach of Île Vierge in Morgat is also acclaimed as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

Camaret-sur-Mer

Camaret-sur-Mer is home to an exceptional piece of French architecture, the Tour Vauban tower dating from the 17th century and classed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Located in the village of Camaret, the Memorial Museum to the Battle of the Atlantic is entirely housed in a blockhouse and is definitely worth a visit - younger visitors will enjoy exploring the bunkers.

Concarneau

As well as being France’s third most important fishing port, Concarneau has other assets that make it a very popular summer resort. The main draw is the quaint ville close (walled town) followed by some lovely sandy beaches and a lively maritime festival in August. This old stone fortified ‘town’ has just a few narrow streets filled with shops and restaurants, where geraniums tumble from window boxes. Take a walk around the ramparts for spectacular views over the area.

Quimper

Quimper, city of culture and history, is a multi-faceted destination. It boasts well-preserved architecture such as Saint-Corentin Cathedral and the colourful timbered houses, a dynamic craft tradition that includes the Faïence of Henriot and the Pascal Jaouen Embroidery School, and of course its major festivals (Cornouaille and Circonova), making it a truly unmissable city in Finistère.

The cottage was absolutely lovely. It was spotless, modern and the beds were very comfortable. Great location for a beach holiday or to use it as a base to tour around and visit other towns and cities. The owner Anne was very easy and professional to deal with. I would recommend staying there and I would definitely stay there again.

Owner response

Thank you for your lovely review and I am delighted that you had a wonderful holiday. Thank you once again for choosing Brittany Cottage and I hope I have the pleasure of welcoming you back again in the future.

Kind regards,

An exceptional property in a really magnificent location. Spotlessly clean, with lots of upstairs storage space and very comfortable beds, offering a wonderful base for the nearby beach as well as attractions further afield. You can try Breton dancing on the promenade, a beautiful crêperie is just down the road and a good range of major shops just a short drive of about 20 minutes away. Be sure to pick up the 'What's-on' guide from reception so that you don't miss local Breton evenings and markets. The local Pentrez market, on the promenade, on a Monday morning, is great for local produce such as bakery and craft items.
The cottage had all that we could ask for and we were delighted to find that there was an upstairs bath/shower and sink as well as the advertised downstairs toilet and shower cubicle.
Océanopolis is about an hour away by car and perfect for a less sunny day, and the adjoining city of Brest offers good shopping and an exciting tram system. Along the peninsula, Crozon, Morgat and Camaret-sur-Mer were also great places to visit and explore.
We cannot recommend this property highly enough; Anne answered any questions we had extremely quickly by text and we were sad when it was time to leave. We look forward to visiting again.

I don't know what I can add to the review I made last year. The house is immaculate - clean and with everything one could need. Only one thing wrong with it - it's not mine!!!!

The location is perfect for a beach holiday with the most gorgeous and safe beach.
My one complaint is that there were even less decent restaurants open than last year.
Obviously, not the fault of the proprietor owner.

Owner response

Thank you for your lovely review and I agree that it's a gorgeous cottage in a perfect location! I know how much you enjoyed your stay last year and it was wonderful to welcome you back again.

As for your comment about the restaurants, I would say that the density of places to eat in Pentrez is typical of most rural Brittany seaside areas and the local restaurants offer traditional home cooked French food which is delicious. There is also an award winning creperie within walking distance of the cottage as well. Most restaurants are not open on Mondays and they tend to open for lunch between noon and 3pm and then between 5/6pm til late. The French tend to eat later than people in the UK so if you arrive around 5pm the restaurant may not be open - most people arrive to eat between 6-8pm in the summer. Also, they are likely to be closed on bank holidays too with the main one being 14th July (Bastille Day). Pentrez is a lovely French seaside town with a relaxed vibe and all the amenities you need to escape and switch off from the stresses of busy modern day living.

Comfortable, clean and spacious and in an elevated position with good views, albeit on a site of 60+ other small terraced cottages. Perhaps could do with an oven rather than a dishwasher as microwave inadequate.
As regards amenities, pool looked ok but we didn't use as wonderful beaches nearby. Also, very few restaurants and eateries open as most closed for season.
However, very easy to book, good value for money and good service and information from the owners, many thanks!

Owner response

Hi Andrew - many thanks for your review and I'm delighted that you had a wonderful short break at Brittany Cottage.

A little surprised about your comment regarding restaurants and places to eat as, although the main summer season has ended, the majority of them are still open until well into the autumn. I'm also sorry you were disappointed with the lack of an oven, however, this has not been an issue for any other guests some of whom have stayed there for a week or more. Therefore, if this is your only negative comment about the cottage's facilities, I do feel that the score of 6.0 is a little unfair as this is purely a personal choice.

However, we do value feedback and have taken your comments on board. Thank you once again for choosing Brittany Cottage.

Kind regards,

Anne
