|Le Gîte du Vert Rivage||Self Catering||Flexible||2||4||1||Sofabed in lounge for 1 extra person.|
Stang Korvenn is a traditional Breton longhouse or longère, and the Gite du Vert Rivage forms a very comfortable and cosy self contained part of this. It has been extensively renovated to combine modern living with rustic charm (complete with free wi-fi), set in 3 acres of secluded wooded gardens.
There's direct access to the River Aulne (part of the Nantes-Brest Canal) with cycling, fishing, swimming and walking; the stunning beaches of the Breton coasts to west and south are within easy reach, and so are many excellent golf courses. The north coast and the ferry port of Roscoff are just over an hour away, and the miles of empty surrounding roads that sweep through the countryside are a motorcyclist's dream.
The gite has a well equipped and spacious kitchen/dining room with seating for up to 5. Cooking is on a gas hob with electric oven, plus microwave, coffee maker and everything you need to cook up some fantastic meals from the local produce you'll find in nearby markets.
The gite has a cosy but spacious living room, with 2 sofas and an easy chair, so plenty of room for all to sit. There is a new flat screen 32" HD tv with BluRay player, English and French tv, plus a good Sony stereo with an auxiliary input. The wi-fi is free and there are dvds and books to borrow.
Two bedrooms, one with comfortable double bed with an unusual "spiral" wood design, and one with 2 (also comfortable) adult sized single beds. Each has Velux windows with anti-insect screens and plenty of hanging space and drawers etc.
Ground floor bathroom with large multi-jet shower, wc and washbasin. Electrically heated hot water available at all times.
Efficient and controllable electric wall heaters in all rooms, plus a log burning stove in the living room.
No entertainment provided - you are free to entertain yourselves! You have access to a large games barn (shared with guests from the adjoining B&B) which has ping-pong, darts, Nintendo Wii, tale football, basic gym equipment and bikes to borrow. There is also a bait and beer fridge for people going fishing.
The gite has its own private garden with garden seating, dining table and hammock, and a charcoal barbecue for your exclusive use. You are also welcome to use the whole of the beautiful garden to explore and for children to play in. There are swings and a slide for smaller children (up to 12). The beautiful, semi wild garden benefits from the hundreds of trees here to provide shady areas when it gets hot (it can do!) and shelter for the multitude of beautiful birds who call this place home.
Your own off-road parking is just in front of the gite, via a short path and a couple of steps. If people have trouble with steps the B&B car park at the far end of Stang Korvenn can be used.
Suitable for couples or families, level access to the front door from the main B&B parking, but steps down from the gite parking area. Someone unable to manage stairs could use the sofabed in the living room and the bathroom/wc is ground floor. Ideally suited for people in search of a peaceful commune with nature rather than non-stop thrills, noise and crowds. The perfect place to relax.
A generous welcome pack of local goodies and cider plus tea, coffee, bread and milk awaits your arrival.
We moved here in 2013 and love this beautiful place and the country all round. From a hectic life in England to the rural calm of central Brittany was a great move. We enjoy meeting different people from all over the world, and trying to be the perfect hosts!

|Why this location?||We love the peace, the beautiful house, the rural setting, the closeness of the canal, the culture and the people. It's also a great spot from which to explore all of Finistere and beyond.|
|Unique benefits of property||Situated right on the bank of the Nantes-Brest Canal, in beautiful wild and wooded gardens. Close to Quimper and only 30 minues from the coast. The nearby town of Chateauneuf du Faou hosts a fantastic jazz festival every July.|
The last Chateau built in France, this gothic masterpiece is a must see. It was completed in 1910 and was revolutionary in its design and steel frame structure (which is visible due to its bombardment during the war). The impressive stables and gardens are extensive and host regular world-class art installations, as well as a spectacular themed wonderland at Christmas. Only 6km from Stang Korvenn.
Huge world-class aquarium with multiple tanks and exhibits, with many species on view including sharks, penguins and otters.
A wonderful part of the west coast of Finistere, providing a great variety of beaches, coves, cliff paths, quaint seaside towns and fantastic seafood restaurants. The start of the peninsula is less than 40 minutes away.
