After many years of holidaying here in rural France, we bought a holiday home in 2003. Each time we returned to England it became harder to leave this tranquil lifestyle behind. In July 2012 we bought our current home and left England. We took a year to create our holiday cottage in the garden which has become Cider Cottage. We enjoy sharing our own special piece of French countryside with our guests.

We booked both cottages on this site as a family group. We were highly impressed with the comfort, style and standard of equipment. The hosts who are on site were friendly and made us very welcome. We were greeted with a welcome pack of local Breton goodies. Our hosts were able to offer advice on local sites and facilities. We were surprised at how much there was to see and do in the area even on a winter break. We visited Saint Malo, Dinard, Dinan, Fougeres and Vitre. All walled medieval cities. Le Mont Saint Michel was amazing. The garden of the property is lovely we saw numerous species of birds, deer and red squirrel. We are already planning our next visit next year.
We are pleased that everyone enjoyed their stay and are delighted that you intend to return in the New Year. We look forward to making you welcome again.
My wife and I recently stayed at Cider Cottage with our two young children (6 & 3) for 4 nights and to say we were impressed is a total under-statement!
The property was immaculately presented and maintained to a superb standard, equipped with everything we needed. Our fantastic hosts, Angela and Chris, gave us a lovely warm welcome (including a pack of local goodies) to get our holiday off the best possible start.
The cottage gardens are a delight, with large lawns for kids to play and us to relax in, including swings which were a great hit with our two!
Free Wi-Fi and English TV are provided and ensured the kids were kept entertained first thing in the morning and we enjoyed a few minutes extra in bed!
The local roads are quiet and were perfect for safe cycling, with the nearest villages only 2 or 3 km away, where we could stock up on essential supplies (the sausages from the local butcher in Saint-Martin-de-Landelles are to die for!).
The location was a great base to explore further afield too, the city of Fougeres is only 20 minutes away with its fabulous medieval chateau and extensive selection of bars, restaurants and shops. We enjoyed a delightful lunch at Le Bretagne, great food and excellent value for money.
The coast is only 30 minutes away with a huge choice of beautiful beaches and resorts to visit as well as the must see Mont Saint-Michel.
We have recommended the property to several friends since our return home and we will be booking again very soon.
Thank you for your review. We are thrilled that you have so thoroughly enjoyed your stay with us. We try very hard to maintain a high standard in both our cottages and to get such positive comments makes it all worthwhile. We hope that we will see you again soon.
It was our first stay in Brittany and we were lucky to get this lovely cottage! It is really nice, very clean and absolutly quiet. A. and C. the owners of this nice house, are really friendly, helpful and they didn't hesitate to give us everything we needed, for example a pair of sun umbrellas for our visit on Carolles Beach, one of the wunderful sandy beachies in the Normandy. It was a pity, that we had to leave after one week, but we enjoyed our holiday very much. If the way from Gernany to Cidre Cottage wasn't that far, we sure would get back soon to A. and Ch. and the lovely house!!!!
We can recommend this property to everybody, who wants to have nice, quiet and friendly welcome holidays in Brittany!!!!
Even we don't speek French, it was no problem to make conversation with the French people there, because almost everybody speeks English.
Our visit in Dinan and Saint Malo was very amazing and we can recommend to get to these two places!
Thank you, Ch...and A...... to make our holiday in Brittany unforgetable!!!
Sabine with Rainer and their two sons from Germany (Please excuse my bad English, I tried my very best... 😉)
Thank you Sabine for your kind comments in excellent English. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. It is our pleasure to do all we can to help our guests to enjoy their stay. If you pass this way again, we would be very happy to make you welcome.
We live in a rural location, this cottage is also in a rural location but it is so quite and peaceful there. The owners are very nice and helpful as well. There are plenty of things to see and do which are easily reached by car without having to pay any tolls.
The property was clean and as described in the advert.
