About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Daphne Denton

I'm a music teacher and performer from Gloucestershire who has long had a love affair with France! The renovations on my longere are almost complete; my children and I have enjoyed it for many years and now my grandchildren love it too. Come and enjoy it as much as we do. The farmhouse and gite together can sleep 10+, so ideal for a large family party! If you are a serious musician, we can offer you an electric piano for practice or possibly help with your music.

Places to Visit

You cannot miss Mont St. Michel, now in 2015 restored to the status of an island. The best beaches for swimming are at Dinard and St. Malo, where there is also a superb aquarium. Visit Cherrueix in the bay of Mont St Michel, for stunning walks along the sand, sand yachting and shell collecting. At Pontorson 10 km away, visit Alligator Bay, an amazing collection of reptiles. At Lanhelin, 10 km away, try the Cobac Park combined theme park and aqua park. For those who enjoy gardens, the Parc Floral at St Germain en Cogles is a delight. For water enthusiasts, the Etang de Boulet near Sens de Bretagne 12 km away has a large lakeside beach for swimming and boating, with restaurant. In addition don't miss the historical beauty of medieval Dinan and Fougeres with the largest castle in Europe, , as well as the castle of Combourg. For a longer trip, the D Day landing beaches of Normandy and the Bayeux tapestry are easily accessible for a day trip. There are plenty of places to visit which are very close: try the Chateau de la Rouerie with its wildlife park, 2 km away, the magnificemt gardens of Chateau de la Ballue, 2km away and Chateau de Bonnefontaine in Antrain.

Places to eat

Eating out

The restaurant/bar Le Fournil in La Fontenelle is exceptionally friendly and good value. In St. Brice just down the road the hotel Le Lion d'Or has a wonderful restaurant. Also try Auberge La Tourelle in Sens de Bretagne. The restaurant in the Foret de Villecartier serves very good galettes and crepes as well as other typically French snacks.
