The gite is just fantastic and we would recommend it to anyone, who wants to get away from it all, whilst keeping all the home comforts to hand. We are a family of 5 (twin 7 year old girls and a 4 year old boy) & having spent a week in Eurodisney & Paris needed some real relaxation. We were not disappointed! Jane & Nigel are perfect hosts & nothing is too much trouble- having them next door is very reassuring too, just in case! The gite itself is superb, really homely & comfortable, with everything you could possibly wish for, outside & inside seating, well stocked kitchen & lots of games. The log burner, comfy beds, power showers, British TV, BBQ & incredible night skies were some of the higlights! The pool was, as you'd imagine, very popular indeed with our 3 & it is only a stones throw from the door, albeit via a locked gate, which is great security, as are the electric gates on the drive- it means that little ones can go for a wander, without constantly needing to be herded! Having said that, if you want a real sun-spot, the loungers by the side of the pool come highly recommended, whilst they are playing there. The kids were fascinated by the chickens too & loved helping collect eggs- Jane & Nigel were great with our kids & that really helps to takes the pressure off! Advice with beaches, restaurants, castles etc were excellent & every one we visited was superb for our needs. Overall, we couldn't recommend this property highly enough & Jane and Nigel are perfect hosts. We will definitely be going back!

We have just returned from a fabulous and relaxing week at La Basse Lande. Jane and Nigel could not have been more welcoming, friendly and helpful- Jane had kindly done some shopping for us, so after a long journey having food in the fridge and wine waiting for us was very welcome. The cottage is comfortable, brilliantly equipped and easily accommodated the 9 of us( a travel cot and stair gates were provided for our toddler). We were all able to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings and the children were happy making the most of the heated pool, trampoline and garden games. Thankyou Jane and Nigel, we hope to return and experience more of your hospitality. The Chuter family

Travelled with my partner and toddler for a week. This was the first family holiday, as opposed to just a self indulged couples break. It was just what we needed to spend quality time together away from work and other day to day distractions. Jane and Nigel are so lovely and welcoming it was like we had gone to stay with family. But you wouldn't know they were there, but if you needed them they were. The property itself is well maintained has character and charm, as you go in and out you catch the air of the roses around the door. There were more facilities than we have at our home! And when our tyre was looking flat Nigel kindly pumped it up. Location is perfect and you are within easy reach of pretty much everything. To pass this up is to miss out in our opinion. Hopefully when we have saved up again we will be back, I know our daughter would love to see you both again :)

Another great holiday at La Basse Lande. The new larger Pool is great and easily accommodated the whole family with room to spare, with chairs and loungers for those just wanting to catch the sun, great for growing children. As usual Jane and Nigel were wonderful hosts and the house was as comfortable as ever. This time we thought we would try something different and brought bikes. There are excellent "Velo Verte" routes nearby (20 to 30 mins) for any cyclists and very flat paths along canals for children. Thank you, and we hope to see you again soon for a 4th visit!

We have just come back from a 5 night break at La Basse Lande and what can I say except sensational. From the welcome we received when we arrived from Jane and Nigel until the time we left and everything else in between.
The Gite is extremely well equipped with everything you could need for a self catering holiday. It is large and there is plenty of space so you don’t feel on top of one another.
The grounds are beautifully well kept and the facilities for children are fantastic. There is a very big trampoline, a climbing frame with a slide and a beautiful swing set. The swimming pool is heated and very welcomed when the weather is hot.
The Gite is easy to find and is minutes off the motorway. It’s at the end of a country lane so is extremely secluded and quiet, the only noises you can hear is the wildlife.
Jane and Nigel are the perfect hosts, nothing is too much trouble and the pool is cleaned and prepared daily for your private use. I would highly recommend La Basse Lande to anyone wanting a home from home experience in a great location where you can just relax and take in the French lifestyle. We will certainly be returning soon.

We had a lovely stay in Jane and Nigel's cottage. They were very welcoming and on hand if we needed anything. The place was spotlessly clean and very well equipped, and had lots of useful extras for our 3 month old baby. Location was perfect- it felt secluded but close to lots of places to visit and shops etc, but it was equally nice to just sit out on the terrace or by the pool if we wanted to relax. Many thanks for such a nice holiday, and we hope to be back soon!

Owner response

Thank you for your lovely review. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay.
It was lovely meeting you all and we would love to welcome you back at anytime.

We had a lovely, relaxing family holiday at La Basse Lande with ages ranging from 5 to 70. The children adored the swimmming pool and one of them even learned to swim. The owners, Jane and Nigel, were helpful and generous and helped make our holiday that much more enjoyable. We certainly appreciated the chickens' eggs!
The house was comfortably furnished and well equipped, with lots of games for the children to enjoy.
We visited Mont St Michel, St Malo and Fougeres for day trips and there was a big supermarket about 5 miles away.
I would certainly recommend the property for a family holiday.

We had lovely 10 nights holiday at la Basse Lande, If your looking for a quiet relaxing holiday within easy reach of many tourist attractions in Brittany then we would recommend this cottage.

The owners Nigel and Jane are next door so convenient for advice on local amenities and places to visit, nothing is too much trouble for them and they genuinely strive to make your holiday as perfect as possible.

The cottage is just as the pictures suggest, spacious, comfortable and very well equipped, with the added benefit of a good sized swimming pool.

We were greeted with a very welcome cup of tea and a twelve pack of beer, wine and local pastries, all much appreciated, Jane had already contacted us asking if we wished for her to stock up on some groceries as we were arriving on Sunday, ( France shuts on Sunday :) ,

We would love to visit again and would certainly recommend La Basse Lande to our friends.
