Fougeres itself has been described by our visitors as the best looked after town in this region, with its quaint old town nestled under the protective walls of one of the best preserved châteaux in northern France. Being as it is, only a few miles from Normandy in one direction and Mayenne in another, its position is ideal for visits to other areas. Nearer to the house, but less than 1km away, is the large forest of Fougeres- here there is a lake that is ideal for children as it has its own sandy beach, general open areas for games etc.

Further North (about 30 mins) there is tree climbing (truly awesome swinging through the trees on wires perfect fun but all very safe for ages 6 - 60 or more if you dare!).

Also in the same direction is Cobrac Park an Amusement park catering for all tastes. Never forgetting the famous beaches of Brittany.

About the Owner/Advertiser, Mr Peter Pearce Miller

We {Peter & Wendy} established Brittany Cottages in late 1989 after our complete renovation of the first cottage at La Peignardiere had been completed. Just 2 years later we went on to the Internet for the first time. Four years later the second cottage was completed and ready for rental, we have continued to rent our holiday cottages ever since. We established our B&B in 2014, Our participation in the holiday rental market spans almost 30 years this experience is important in offering value.

Year property purchased 1989
Why this location? Convenient to Brittany, Normandy & Mayenne, we are in the countryside close to a beautiful forest yet only about 1 hour from some lovely beaches. The town of Fougeres has a lot to offer and generally the area is steeped in history both ancient and recent. It is an area very different to most of France, the local Bretons have a saying that Brittany is not on the North West corner of France rather France is on the edge of Brittany.
Unique benefits of property La Peignardiere has an indoor heated pool making it ideal for all the family in or out of the busy season (normally temperatures are kept no less than 30 degrees). The swimming pool at La Peignardiere is fitted with an air pump pool heating system that in the climate of Brittany is excellent for any time of the year.

Our Brittany cottages at La Peignardiere can offer holidays for all tastes, from relaxing "pool side" breaks to historic cultural holidays. The beaches of Normandy and Brittany are just a short distance away. Plus there are various amusement parks within a short drive. La Peignardiere is situated just 6Kms from the town of Fougeres with its fantastic old town and the Chateau which is rated as the best preserved in Brittany. With over 1000 years of history there is plenty to explore. Close to the house is the quite large forest of Fougeres, a wonderful place with its freshwater lake [ complete with a beach].
