We are a sociable couple who enjoy travel, both abroad and at home, walking our dogs, cycling, visiting markets, visiting sites of historical or natural interest, eating out and the fine wines of France. Over the years, we have stayed in many self-catering properties; our experiences have given us high expectations of holiday homes, which are reflected in Honeysuckle Cottage.

Until recently, we both worked in education, Nick as a Secondary Head and Pip as an English and Drama teacher.
|Year property purchased||2018|
|Why this location?||We bought the property which is a 300 year old stone farmhouse to semi-retire in a beautiful, tranquil location.
There are many places to visit, places to cycle and walk, good shops, markets and restaurants.
The house is in a little village with good access to a variety of places of interest and beaches. 30 min from Mont St Michel.
|Unique benefits of property||The property benefits from being spacious, characterful and in a peaceful setting surrounded by beautiful countryside, whilst having all of the advantages of a larger town 10 minutes away. The property is in a small hamlet consisting of 3 houses. There is a shop/bar/restaurant and a 12th century church approximately 1km away. There are lovely walks from the village.|
Great food and reasonably priced authentic French working lunch. 4 courses including plat du jour, wine or cidre and coffee for €12.50
Fabulous, iconic attraction close by.
Excellent stay - spotless, and very comfortable. The welcome pack was just what we needed after arriving late at night. A beautiful location in the country - stars were breathtaking.
Beautiful local villages, plenty to see and do for foodies / history / nature / architecture / military history buffs...plus the pool! Nick & Pip fabulous hosts - very welcoming and nothing too much trouble.
Thoroughly recommend and will certainly stay again!
We had a fantastic time in Honeysuckle Cottage. Fabulously clean, with everything we needed. Very comfortable beds with lovely bed linen and towels. Kitchen well-equipped with lots of thought put into the cottage content - even down to the selection of DVDs for us to curl up infront of the log burner to unwind. Thank you for the welcome pack - such a nice surprise. The location of the gite was exactly as described on the website, in a pretty, countryside location. The owners, Pip and Nick, were perfect - always ready to help and knowledgeable about the area. We had a fantastic day in Fougeres on market day ( thanks for the recommendation, Nick and Pip) and really enjoyed the audio tour around the chateau. Would also recommend a trip to the Bayeux Tapestry; another great audio tour and interesting museum. Fantastic food at the local Auberge. We’ve stayed in many gites and holiday cottages before and this one was the best to-date. Highly recommend.
Many thanks for your review and so glad that you had a lovely time.
This was our 1st visit & we weren't left disappointed. The owners, Nick & Pip were both welcoming & knowledgeable of the local & surrounding area, dispite having only been there a little while. There is a lovely traditional auberge in Monthault just a couple of kilometres away where they speak good 'broken' English if your French isn't great. The accommodations had everything we needed & was spotlessly clean & comfortable......the pillows were really comfortable which you don't always get when away. There's a huge garden which was great for our dog but with all the open countryside there was plenty of space for him to run free. Would definitely recommend.
We are so glad that you, Dave and little Basil enjoyed your week wi5 us and hope to see you again.
Had a weeks stay in this lovely gite . In beautiful tranquil surroundings it is the ideal place to relax and unwind ! The gite was like a home from home very comfortable and clean .There were lots of thoughtful touches a lovely wellcome pack which meant we didn’t have to go out for provisions straight away .The owners have put a lot of thought into the gite with children’s books and toys as well .So would be suitable for young families .There was even an umbrella provided in case of rain!I would highly recommend this gite if you want a relaxing break in the beautiful countryside and we have already booked up for next spring ,
