Famers' Markets

The weekly farmers market is on Sunday mornings, located downtown in the streets behind the church. This is an outdoor market, great range of food and goods - also clothes and shoes !
During summer, from late June to mid-September, the flavors market takes place in the old quarter of Cancale every Thursday from 5pm. The producers of the region are there to make you try their specialties.

Ty Skorn : Excellent crepes in a friendly local setting. Directly on the port of Cancale, easy to reach. Marianne, the owner, is really friendly.
Crêperie du port : Downtown Cancale. Very close to house. Good crêpes, good value for money.

You are spoilt for choice by the number of excellent restaurants in Cancale.

"A contre courant" : Very good food, the restaurant is always full (book ahead). The atmosphere is alright though it can be a bit "speed" sometimes.

"Le Coquillage" : Super-chef Olivier Roellinger’s sumptuous restaurant is housed in the impressive Château Richeux, 4km south of Cancale. Roellinger’s creations have earned him three Michelin stars (though he renounced them in 2008), and the food takes in the culinary highlights of Brittany and Normandy, all beautifully cooked and imaginatively served. Roellinger's son - Hugo - took over from his father in 2014 to focus on fish, vegetables and seaweed.
Book well ahead.

"L'Huitrière" : Interesting concept for oyster lovers. Fresh products of high quality, oysters opened in front of you. On the other hand not much choice of other dishes for those who are not into oysters. For desserts, good news, it's homemade.

Food to Go

Pizzas (for there or to go) : «Au Jardin du bourg» near the church
Pizzas to go : L'ilot Pizza from thursdays to sundays

You will be located between the harbour and downtown Cancale, so you can easily do your shopping (2 bakeries, butcher, fish store, little supermarket, banks,...)

For local experiences, we suggest the following :
"Grain de vanille" : The best pastries in the area. Downtown Cancale.
"Les fermiers de la Baie" : 10 producers in the Saint-Malo and Mont-Saint-Michel Bay county (vegetables, meat, salty and sweet groceries). In Saint-Malo, 14 mn' by car, 12 km.
The oyster market : The market for oysters is typical Cancale. Its motto is : open every day, all day, all year round. It takes place at the bottom of our street in the port of La Houle. 750 meters away from the house.
