I live on the edge of Dartmoor having lived many years in Yorkshire. My family and I have had many happy holidays in Rochefort and still do.
|Year property purchased||1989|
|Why this location?||Brittany is a distinct region while being truly French. Very easy to reach without hours of driving. Rochefort is a very pretty little town, a good base for exploring but also worth exploring itself. It has a good bakery and several restaurants and creperies. I particularly like the walk to and around the lake. It is within easy reach of the south Brittany coast and lots of interesting towns and villages. The Nantes Brest canal is only about 8 miles away and is easy walking and cycling as well as being very pretty.|
|Unique benefits of property||On the edge of one of the prettiest villages in France it is a wonderful place for a holiday. No need to drive for morning croissants or back from a meal in the evening. The courtyard is very private and enclosed so dog friendly. The sunny upstairs sitting room is perfect to curl up in with a good book from the collection there. I have chosen them all with a French setting!!|
Walking, cycling, swimming, horse riding in Rochefort, golf, day boat hire and beaches within 20 miles. The Nantes Brest canal is 6 miles away lovely for level walks and cycling. A voie vert,old railway line is a similar distance away and again gives access to level walking. All of this through very pretty countryside. The lake on the outskirts of Rochefort is a good alternative to a trip to the coast. Not far from the prehistoric alignments st Carnac and wonderful Gavrinis island and ancient tomb. Something for all interests on holiday.
There are several restaurants and creperies within a 5 minute walk they range from simple creperie and bar to ones for that special occasion.
