About the Owner/Advertiser, Mr & Mrs Neil Young

Neil and I moved to Brittany in 2004 leaving behind a very hectic and stressful life in IT and banking! The appeal of the relaxed, family orientated, French way of life drew us to Brittany, where we found and purchased a beautiful hamlet of thatched cottages. Over the last 12 years we have enjoyed developing a successful holiday cottage business, whilst at the same time, immersing ourselves in French village life and getting to grips with the French language and all its many nuances !

Owner's website
Year property purchased 2004
Why this location? We chose Morbihan (one of the four departments in Brittany) for a number of reasons. Firstly, the beautiful granite stone buildings had a definite appeal - each department has its own unique style fashioned by the building materials local to the area. Secondly, the beautiful undulating landscape, lush and green, very similar to Cornwall and quaint picturesque villages, reminiscent of an ‘olde worlde’ England. Another plus, the temperate climate, warmer than the south of England, but not too hot on balmy summer days, and a convenient distance, just a short two hour drive south from the northern ports of St Malo & Roscoff.

Add to the above the wonderful Breton hospitality abound in this area, a host of interesting places to visit, the beautiful Gulf of Morbihan with its many islands to explore, historical towns and medieval cities, megalithic sites and much much more and the list goes on………!
Unique benefits of property There are many plus points for choosing to holiday at Le Helleguy, in one of our two detached thatched cottages, La Chaumiere and/or La Grange :
• Located in a quite tranquil area, but within easy access of local amenities and the coast
• Both rated 4 star / 4 key by the French Tourist Board & Clevacannce and so you can be confident of the standard and quality offered in the cottages
• La Chaumiere offers ground floor accommodation with en-suite facilities if managing stairs is a problem
• The heated swimming pool has a high-tech telescopic shelter which enables indoor swimming in mild/inclement weather and the pool water is heated from 1st April until mid-November
• Spa facilities are available onsite, daily and in the evenings
• Living in the hamlet ourselves, Neil and I on hand to offer assistance and help make your stay as relaxed and hassle free as possible!

We took an extended family and friends group with ages from 1 to 66. This was an early birthday celebration and although out of season we were blessed with wonderful weather. The Helleguy site was perfect with ample parking, the wonderful covered pool and attentive owners. Such a shame that Neil and Tricia are retiring and that large groups will not be accommodated. All those attending agreed that they would be back and I need say no more.

What an amazing place, everything we imagined and more. A spacious, beautifully kept home with all the things you could need. The gardens are amazing and with three children under 8 they were happy to stay here all day, using the pool and running around the gardens. There is a cupboard full of outdoor garden games, football, table tennis, literally everything has been thought of. It's quiet setting is stunning, but you will need to drive to get anywhere. Good base for exploring the area. We'll be back!
