Le Guerroue is a very small village of 5 houses. Ty Griffett is our own beautifully renovated longère holiday home, which we let out when the family are not staying. Set in an acre of garden, the property has a heated pool, and is not over looked by any other houses.
The house has free internet access and boasts 3 double bedrooms, an extremely well equipped kitchen with range cooker, fridge-freezer, microwave/grill/oven, dishwasher, washing machine and iron. The lounge, kitchen and dining area are open plan, with the lounge having a double height vaulted ceiling.
The mezzanine has a large TV with internet access, PlayStation2 and a large selection of dvds and books. There is plenty of seating all around the house and outside in the garden, so no difficulty finding a place to sit. 2 tables outside for alfresco dinning and a purpose built BBQ.
There are 3 large stunning double bedrooms, 2 doubles, 1 twin. The upstairs master bedroom has it's own en suite. The twin and double plus the family bathroom with modern fittings are all located downstairs.
The house is approximately 3 miles from Pontivy, a beautiful old town set on the river Blavet. Pontivy has some interesting small shops, a number of restaurants and bars and a market on Monday.
The Rivet Blavet and the canal both about a 4 mile drive have a tow path which is excellent for walking, cycling and it is possible to hire canoes in St Nicholas des Eau.
The coast is approximately 30/40 minutes drive away depending on your choice, long sandy beaches for children to play or wooded areas going onto the beach for walking dogs.
Vannes is a beautiful old town, with a market on Saturday morning and a fine range of shops and restaurants. St Auray is a small harbour town with an excellent range of fish restaurants, a market on Tuesday and again interesting small shops.
There is so much to do in Morbihan it is difficult to know what to suggest.
The kitchen is very well equipped, with a 4 ring range cooker, microwave/oven/grill, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge-freezer, iron. Enough plates, cutlery, cups for 12 people. The oak dining table easily seats 10. Outside there are 2 dining tables seating 8 people.
The large vaulted lounge has two 3 seater settees, 2 large comfy chairs and a huge woodburner just in case the evenings are cool. Persian rug, coffee-tables and side lamps. Upstairs on the mezzanine is the large internet access TV, PlayStation2, and a large selection of dvds and books.
Three double bedrooms (2 double and 1 twin). The huge master bedroom upstairs has a 6ft double bed, beautiful antique French wardrobe, bedside drawers, large chest of drawers and comfy settee. The en suite has large sink, loo and shower. The very well appointed twin has 2 very comfy 3ft beds, antique wardrobe and chest of drawers.
The double has an antique French bed, bedside cabinets and very large chest of drawers.
All of the rooms are beautifully furnished and decorated.
The large en suite to the master bedroom upstairs has walk-in shower, loo and large modern sink.
The large family bathroom downstairs has a glass vanitory unit and sink, square loo, bath and over shower.
Heating is electric radiators, plus a large woodburner stove in the lounge, with the wood supplied.
The house has wireless internet connection, large internet enabled TV, PlayStation2, a library of over 200 dvds, books, a selection of games, jigsaws, childrens books and toys. A selection of books about the area giving suggestion of what where to go and what there is to see and do.
The garden is approximately an acre, mainly grass, with a selection of shrubs and trees. The pool is heated and surrounded by 3 decks, 1 set under the gazebo and shaded by grapevines has a wrought iron dinning table and chairs for 6 people, the other decks have a mixture rattan settee and loungers for soaking up the sun.
Outside the back door is a belfry table seating 8 and the large purpose BBQ.
There is parking for 10 cars or more on the gated drive. So parking is not a problem.
The house is suitable for families, of all ages but guests must be aware that there are 2 sets of steep wooden stairs, one to the master bedroom, the other to the mezzanine.
The house is set in a very quiet rural location. There are 5 houses in the village. The nearest shops are in Noyal Pontivy, 3 mile away with the local bread shop and Super Market the only one in the area to open on a Sunday morning.
The closest larger town is Pontivy, with a choice of larger Super Markets, Monday morning market, restaurants, bars and selection of small shops.
Colin and I are both retired, we have 2 daughters and 4 grandsons. At home we have goats, sheep and 114 acres of land. So having a house is France away from it all seemed a very good idea. We love the life style, food, wine and lack of traffic. So when we saw our house we had to buy it. Two years later after quite a lot of stress with architects and builders we have our beautiful house which we love and so have our guests I am very happy to say.

|Why this location?||We chose this location because we have friends in the area who can look after the house when we are not there. It is easy to get to either by Brittany Ferries or EuroTunnel. We can take our dogs, who love it. The locals are very friendly. Pontivy is a lovely small town with nice individual shops, supermarkets and restaurants. The area is great for walking, either along the River Blavet, the Nante Brest Canal, around the Lac du Guerledan or the coast, all are a short car ride, from 5 to 40 minutes drive and very easy to get to.|
|Unique benefits of property||The unique benefits of our house are the fact that it is our own holiday home and is furnished and equiped to a high standard for our own use, not just as a rental gite. There is a large enclosed garden, pool with a comfy seating/lounging area, BBQ, 2 outside dining areas. All these facilities are for your own private use, nothing has to be shared with other people. The house is in a quiet area but only a 5 minute drive from the town. We have Matt and Sue to help if you have any queries or problems.|
There are a number of places that do 8-10 Euro lunches, they offer 4 courses with a bottle of house wine included and are always worth trying.
Set under the castle in Pontivy is a good restuarant for all of the family. Good service, food and wine.
Auray is an old harbour town, with a wonderful selection of restaurants along on the front. Very large market, and a choice of art shops for presents or souvenirs.
The Blavet is a wonderful place for walking and cycling. It is easy walking and cycling on the tow path, no traffic, just peace and quiet and a few other walkers who always stop and chat.
There is a very nice creperie in St Nicholas over looking the river, very good for lunch time meal with a glass of cidre.
There are a number of fish restaurants in Trinite-sur-Mer harbour, and if you enjoy fresh fish it is a place you must go to.
The coast to the south has a mixture of long sandy beaches excellent for children swimming or secluded rocky and sandy coves to hide out in. There is a footpath that runs for miles around the coast with amazing views, villages, towns, restaurants.
Pontivy has a very nice market on a Monday morning selling fresh veg, meat, bread, cheeses, cooked meats. After the market visit the old part of the town with its cobbled street and old shops.
Vannes has an amazing market on Saturday mornings, selling everything, fish, cheeses, bread, fresh veg, gifts, honey stall. When the market has finished there is a very good selection of restaurants, very difficult to choose. The selection of shops is fantastic selling everything you can think of.
Delightful property, very well laid out and beautifully presented. Our party was four adults and two teenage boys and the accommodation layout allowed Parents, Grandparents and boys space and privacy with central area for gathering together. Kitchen and breakfast area worked particularly well.
The outside space was also very good offering privacy and plenty of room at the same time.
Local amenities at Pontivy were both good and convenient.
Only reservation being the pool. It was a bit small, particularly for four adults and two teenage boys to use at the same time!
All in all thoroughly recommended and would certainly book again.
A lovely converted barn with all the facilities you would need would definately stay again
Excellent property located in a beautiful area. Huge enclosed garden which was ideal for our pet dog to run about in, as well as for kids to play in and for everyone to relax in. Very peaceful and lovely surrounding area.
The Gite is very spacious, well maintained and provides everything you need for your holiday.
Pontivy is close by offering all amenities and an Intermarche is located on the way.
We visited Vannes, Port Louis, Josselin and Lac de Guerledan as well as Pontivy itself; all were great places to go and within an hour of travel.
The owners are very reliable, communicate promptly and are willing to provide any additional information in advance to support your holiday, for example providing details for local vets and additional pictures of the Gite and region.
Merlin restaurant (Lac de Guerledan) - excellent food, service and stunning views across the Lac.
Would 100% recommend Ty Griffett.
The house is beautiful and the garden is large so the children had a great time running around
