My name is Angela Swinbank. I live in the North East of England with my husband and our 2 children. We are farmers who have diversified into buying and selling tractors, plant and machinery. We love Brittany and bought this farmhouse as a get away.
|Year property purchased||1998|
|Why this location?||Porh le Goff is a large farmhouse set in 1/2 area of garden, we bought this farmhouse because we loved the space and quite.|
|Unique benefits of property||This is a large property, built in 1692, with lots of space for children to run about in. The property is in the country and is very quiet, however it is approximately one mile from the nearest village where you can purchase fresh bread and provisions. All holiday comforts are available such as splash pool, gas bbq, outdoor games and toys. Miriam who looks after the house and guests lives just down the road - about 2 minutes away. Miriam is extremely helpful and able to provide advice on where to go in the area.|
We arrived at Porh Le goff and were greeted by Myriam who looks after the property and guests.
Everything was explained as best as possible with our broken french knowledge and Myriam's English...although we did have a great laugh trying to understand each other.
Inside, there is everything you need to get you holiday started...Starting with basics to nibble on and a nice brew.... information leaflets plentiful to help you plan your days out, if you haven't done so already.
The kitchen is very large(we spent most of our time there when not out) and has everything you need to cook your meals.
A large lounge area with a T.V, sofa's and plenty of books and games are found in the bookcase.
A nice size toilet downstairs with wash basin and a place to hang all your coats. Also a storage room where you can find the vacuum, brushes, Ironing board and Iron, and also a Barbecue.
Up the stairs to the Bathroom with a good sized bath and toilet, and also a wash basin... Four good sized bedrooms, one of which is en-suit with a shower, toilet and basin.
Outside there is a family sized splash pool although, not heated...however we did venture in and found it warmish.....The property is surrounded by acres of fields and is so peacefull..
We were greeted most mornings by the two horse in the field behind the property and had regular visits from the neighbours little dog, java? (not sure on spelling)
A beautiful place that is perfect for getting away from daily life.
We spent a super two weeks at porh le goff and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our group was two families with a total of four children aged under 7 and the house was just perfect for us; spacious, clean, great splash pool and an unbelievably peaceful setting. We were very comfortable during our stay and would thoroughly recommend this holiday home for those looking for a relaxing, rural setting setting in a spacious house.
We will recommend porh le goff to our friends and family and hope to spend another happy holiday here. We found lots of activities within an hour's drive of the house, and "bouncy castle land" near Carnac (about 45 minutes away) was an absolute joy for the children and adults alike. We fell in love with the nearest town, Pontivy, and The tiramisu Breton served locally is not to be missed!
Overall a very happy holiday, thoroughly recommended.
Thank you for our wonderful stay at Porh Le Goff. We had such a lovely two week stay there. We visited many places but also spent many happy hours in the garden chatting with a glass of vino or two! The children aged 10 and 7 loved the splash pool. The farmhouse is clean and very well equipped and had everything we needed for our stay. The farmhouse is in the countryside and surrounded by fields. There is a large garden and the adults and children both enjoyed playing games, great fun. The neighbours who look after the house for the owners were really lovely and so helpful. We enjoyed chatting to them and managed quite well with our limited French and their limited English and lots of arm waving! Angela the owner has also been so helpful, from the initial enquiries about Porh Le Goff to returning after our holiday she has kept in touch and kept us informed. We also text her during our stay with minor queries and she always replied very promptly. We visited Pontivy and Josselin both had good markets, Pontivy on Monday morning and Josselin on a Saturday morning. Both are very pretty. We also went to Auray, Concarneau, and to the beaches/coastline either side of Lorient really lovely. Brittany is just beautiful. We would definitely stay here again in the future. Thank you to Angela and also to the neighbours/caretakers of Porh Le Goff. Merci Beaucoup. :)
