Ty Mad is an excellently situated stone gite within walking distance to the Nantes-Brest canal, where there are fabulous walks and cycling along the canal. It is within easy reach of Pontivy, which is a bustling market town with all the facilities you could wish for.
The cottage itself is spacious and the garden is fully enclosed and safe for children and dog owners. It was immaculate inside, and well equipped. The added bonus of the pool was appreciated especially as we had such fantastically warm weather.
The owners of the gite live on site and were very welcoming and helpful, without being intrusive.
It was a peaceful location and we had a very relaxing time in a beautiful part of Brittany, but we were in easy reach of beaches and places of interest so it is in an excellent position.
Thank you to the Jones family, and of course Bertie the dog for allowing us all to visit your holiday cottage and for such a marvellous stay. I'd definitely recommend this gite.
Thank you Debs for the lovely review, we loved having you here, and hope you might come again some time. if you feel that there is something we could do better, we would like to know as we want to be the best.
Great accomodation in a beautiful setting
Plenty of things to do in the local area including cycling along the canal towpath which is accessed only a short distance away from the property
Centrally located for both the North and South coasts of Brittany with some great local forest, lakeside and river / canal side walks.
Not forgetting visits to the local towns and villages with Josselin being old and pretty village with good restaurants in the central square. Pontivy and Leudeac being larger towns within easy driving distance with all the amenities and facilities you would need. Leudeac having an English speaking vet which was very good.
The weather was good during our stay so it was great to make full use of the pool at the property which was very clean and bigger than we expected along with the large private garden where it was a delight to light up the barbecue on a few occasions.
Last but not least we received a great welcome from the property owners who have a good knowledge of the local area and their recommendations for places to visit were always spot on.
In summary we had a fantastic time and wouldn't hesitate to go back
Thank you so much for your wonderful review. we thoroughly enjoyed having you here with us and hope to see you again one day.
When we finally arrived (in the middle of no-where) there was a chap called Dave there to meet us , he actually came and found us as we thought we were lost but we were almost there, The Gite was so clean and tidy it was a credit to the owners, it was exactly as described. All just so.
It was a little bit out of the way and so quiet .The owners were polite and friendly and offered us local knowledge to help us. The swimming Pool was used every day and was just warm enough and there was an assortment of blow up toys for the pool which were very usefull.
All in all I would recommend this Gite to anyone who may be looking to book a very good Gite at a reasonable price. Most restaurants we tried were great and served really good food at a reasonable price , but be carefull of the opening hours as they normally don't open till 7.
There is a siesta type closing between 12 and 2 with each place choosing which hour to close, fun but could be frustrating.
If you want a good break from the ratrace then this is the place for you
Thank you so much for giving us such a lovely review. We really enjoyed having you here.
