Year property purchased 2004
Why this location? We took many months to find our little corner of tranquility but the moment we saw it we knew it was the one for us. Bonne Chere is surrounded only by pine trees and forest offering a real sense of freedom and solitude. Whilst we try to provide everything needed for a stress free holiday, mother nature does her bit too. By day, go and explore the forest fauna and flora (deer, squirrels, badgers, foxes, buzzards, owls, woodpeckers to name but a few) and by night with next to zero light pollution it's also a great place for a spot of star gazing.

We love Morbihan's countryside, its meandering rivers and its glorious coastline along with its long sandy beaches, rocky outcrops and quaint picturesque harbours and believe our guests will too.

The gastronomic delights of Brittany await you whether it be crepes, galettes, cidre, beer, wine or the fresh fish and shellfish. With boulangerie's on every corner with their mouthwatering patisseries too...who can resist Brittany
Unique benefits of property This charming group of cottages is set within 33 acres of beautiful quiet woodland countryside surrounded only by pine trees and forest. You will find 3 exceptionally well equipped cottages offering stylish and comfortable accommodation where families can escape the hubbub of everyday life and where tranquility promises only to be disturbed by birdsong.

Guest's children are welcome to help collect eggs and feed the chickens and both Brambles the pot belly pig and Bonnie & Clyde our excitable goats relish any kitchen leftovers.

Pontivy, the closest town is well served by restaurants, bars & cafe's, boutiques and supermarkets and is also a very interesting town historically. There are many places of historic and scenic interest to explore all within a short drive or you can equally spend your days relaxing, taking a dip in the pool and watching your children have the time of their lives.

Regional Interests

The are far too many beautiful towns and villages to mention. Morbihan is famous for its peaceful verdant countryside, the powerful ocean crashing against the coasts, the contrasting mild and quiet waters of the gulf as well as its many châteaux. Brittany is home to the world famous megalithic stones at Carnac, and popular too for its many markets where you can experience the amazing local food and famous Breton crepes (pancakes: savoury/sweet) The most popular beaches for our guests to visit include Carnac, La Trinite Sur Mer, Larmor Plage. Fort Bloque & Guidel each take 50 minutes to reach. A little closer to Bonne Chere, we have the magnificent Lac de Guerledan set within the heart of the Quénécan forest. Here there are 3 safe sandy beaches, watersports hire, cafe's and the fabulous Merlin's Restaurant that overlooks the lake. A visit to the lake usually takes approx 20/25 mins. Within the vicinity of the lake there are extensive trails for walking and cycling and the Abbaye de Bon Repos is not to be missed and worth a visit too. There are guide books in all the cottages and we are always on hand to give our personal opinion and recommendations. Having had our 3 children grow up in this area we can usually offer some insight to where the best places to visit for guests specific needs whether a zoo day is planned for toddlers or some quad bikes are what you want.

Relaxing settings with lots to do for Children.

The cottages in Bonne Chere are well equipped and kept to a high standard by Rob, Trudy and the Family. Onsite facilities include an amazing Barn of fun for Children, a Pool and a Hot Tub. There is plenty of space to kick around a football or to take a little stroll.

The region itself does have lots to do but having a car is essential due to the rural location of Bonne Chere which to be fair is its best asset.

We would highly recommend Bonne Chere for anyone with Children. In our group, we had children 18 months to 13 years and all had a great time.

Places we enjoyed seeing were the medieval town of Josselin, the Amazing beaches in Carnac and the lake “Lac de Guerlédan”.

Bonne Vanaces!

We've stayed with Rob & Trudy half a dozen times in various groups, mature couple and mixed family members. We were so happy to find Bonne Chere after our previous gite changed hands. After visiting this part of Brittany for 20 years now we really wouldn't want to stay anywhere else.
If you enjoy the peace and tranquility of the Breton countryside but want to be within driving reach of civilization you won't find a more perfect location.
The standard of accommodation is extremely high. Plenty of mod cons including wifi for those of us obsessed with our smart phones. It is just like having a second home in France.
The pool was perfect as the weather was wonderfully warm. The play barn is also a great facility for parents with demanding children. We look forward to our granddaughter making more use of this as she grows up.
We love this part of Brittany. The nearby Pontivy is a lovely little town with a large market on Monday and a visit to the Joubard biscuit factory is must. There are also a least 4 supermarkets if you need a little retail therapy. The coast is only an hour away and we particularly like to visit Vannes on Wednesday for the market. Try Le Gambetta on the harbour for lunch. Otherwise visit Lac Guerledan. There's a Sunday market at Bon Repos and lunch at Merlin les pieds dans l'eau at Anse de Sordan is an unforgettable experience.
Enjoy, amusez-vous bien!
