We have lived in Le Cosquer since 2010 but bought the property 5 years before when it was in need of complete renovation, even then it was love at first sight. We found it increasingly difficult to leave each time we visited and finally made the decision to move here permanently.
|Year property purchased||2005|
|Why this location?||We fell in love with the area instantly. It is situated in a beautiful countryside location but only 25 minutes from the coast, beaches and Golf du Morbihan.
Our little community of Le Cosquer is 2km from Quistinic which is a lovely traditional Breton commune. There is easy access to the historic towns of Auray, Hennebont, Josselin, Pontivy and Vannes to name but a few. The River Blavet is minutes drive away where you will find fishing, canoeing/kayaking and many miles of towpath for tranquil walks and cycle rides. Canoe and Cycle hire can be found along the towpath. La Maison Blanche has it's own private and secluded heated pool with countryside views.
|Unique benefits of property||A beautiful house sympathetically renovated with traditional Breton furniture but with all of the comforts of home with a fully integrated kitchen. The heated private pool is situated to the side of the house and is secluded. It is a wonderful place to relax in the sunshine while overlooking the countryside. The pool is completely fenced in and has double locks for inquisitive little hands.
A perfect location to explore the huge choice of white, sandy beaches, all within easy driving distance, where you can enjoy swimming, sand yachting, water skiing, windsurfing, snorkeling, kite surfing, sailing or body surfing.Activities include: Fishing on the many nearby lakes and rivers; Golf on the 6 courses all within 1 hours drive. Cycling along the well maintained River Blavet towpath, many miles with no hills - A great way to discover the area. Horse Riding, Canoeing, Boat Trips, Surfing, Diving, Tennis, GoKarting and don't forget to visit the local markets if you want to experience the real Brittany.
The property is as described, beautifully clean and well appointed and maintained. The English owners, Mary and Chris, are on site but do not intrude and are incredibly friendly and helpful. Even the washing is brought in if you have gone out for the day and it looks as though it is going to rain before you get back! The 'welcome basket' is the best I have ever come across with wine, fresh bread, butter and farm eggs amongst the bits provided. The property is somewhat isolated but only because it's in a wonderful rural setting and very quiet - you will need your own transport. However the offer was made by the owners on more than one occasion to run as to and from a local recommended restaurant so that we could have a drink and not have to drive! A big plus is that Mary will cook you a meal for very modest cost from a provided menu. There are some lovely places to visit within a 30 minute car drive and you are ideally placed for visiting the coast for a day out. I would have no hesitation in recommending this property and hope to be able to make a return visit in the not too distant future.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write your lovely review, it really is appreciated. Chris and I thoroughly enjoyed our evening chats with a glass of wine! We both look forward to hopefully meeting you again. Another big thank you for the review
