Penderff is a 16thC Manoir set in its own land with wonderful views. It has been our family home for 7 years and we have decided to let our guests enjoy it for the summer months. It was fully renovated a few years ago and retains all the charm of a very old house, we even have some arrow slit windows and the stone walls are over 3' thick, but it contains all the modern fittings and comforts that you would expect in a home.
Penderff is set in a elevated position commanding views on 2 sides of the forest and river valley, with the village nestled in the middle. We have 25 hectares of our own land waiting to be explored, a small lake with rowing boat you are welcome to use, the river and even a ruined mill. When walking, the only sounds to be heard are the river winding its way or the birds. Our land adjoins a large forest with many tracks and trails which are available for walking. There are many places for picnics and relaxing, or painting and sketching.
To the front of the house there is a fully enclosed gated garden, to the side a large lawned garden with trees (again fenced) and the swimming pool, heated by solar panels and for sole use, 7m x 4m x 1.5m There is a raised bathing platform and steps.
The entrance to the house is through a stone archway into the entrance hall. From this you pass into the huge open plan sitting room. There are Patio doors leading onto a large patio with hot tub, ratten furniture which overlooks the pool.. Sunloungers, table and chairs, umbrella, barbecue all provided. We do have some bikes which you are welcome to borrow. There are many walks on grass tracks to explore directly from the garden. The lake is a safe distance away from the house and garden across a large field, the garden is also fully fenced so is safe for children. We have a picnic table by the lake and a little red rowing boat which you are welcome to use.
The truly astounding southwest beaches are approximately 40 minutes away by car with the resorts Guidel-Plage, Lamore-Plage and the Ile de Groix close by. There are many, beautiful beaches in Morbihan, from small coves to large sweeping beaches. You can choose from family beaches which have full facilities, to isolated and wild rugged ones. We are ideally situated for the south and north coasts so you are always spoilt for choice. There are also many islands in the Golfe de Morbihan. A welcome pack is provided of essential items and a cake and a bottle of chilled wine awaits you, to really start your holiday in style! Also complimentary breakfast for your first morning is provided for you. The garden is fully fenced so is safe for children, and there are some swings for the little ones.
We do have a gite which is completely separate from the house, the house has its own entrance, garden, and pool, its is also fenced to allow complete privacy. The house does not share any facilities with the gite. We live on site, but away from the house as to not to intrude but we are here if needed!
Children's riding lessons can be arranged at a fully credited stables 5 minutes away by car from Penderff. Past guest's fully recommend this. Jeremy and I are in our late 50's with one adult son living in England. We originally lived in Buckinghamshire but decided to move to Brittany for a quieter life, which we certainly found at Penderff. Jeremy had a very demanding job in the prison service whereas I was training to be a Councellor in eating disorders and we felt that we needed to slow down a bit. We are very relaxed and informal, there is no standing on ceremony here, life is too short! We have two pet dogs and one cat.

|Why this location?||Why the owner chose a home in this location. We fell in love with Penderff as it is peaceful, beautiful and tranquil, the views are breathtaking, and the fact that we don't have to move off our own land to enjoy fabulous walks whilst not meeting a soul. The gite itself is friendly and welcoming and you feel very relaxed. Locally there are many forests, walks, rivers and streams as well as history in its adjacent towns. There is so much to see and do and we are central for most places in Brittany. We are within 40 mins of the south coast beaches which means that you are not surrounded by crowds of holiday makers and busy traffic, but close enough to enjoy a seaside holiday. The countryside is diverse, its not flat and arable but woods, hills and valleys and the Nantes Brest canal is also close by. We are so easy to get to, 2hrs from St Malo ferry port. We purchased Penderff after only seeing it once, we were that sure.|
|Unique benefits of property||We are within easy reach of towns and shops but whilst at Penderff not a car can be heard. We have 100 acres of our own land for walking around, a little fishing lake with rowing boat, ruins and woods to explore and the river to walk along. We provide a sole use private solar panel heated pool which is totally secluded and not looked over and new for this year we have a hot tub. Penderff is unspoilt, beautiful and a true get away from it location where you can either relax and chill or have grand adventures!|
A 25 mins drive away you will find the Lac de Guerledan, its very beautiful and 7.5 miles long. Dotted around its shores are little hamlets, especially Anse de Sordan and Beau Rivarge, both of which have beaches which are safe for swimming, canoes and pedalos for hire and restaurants. There are also motor boat trips around the lake. Also in the same area is the lovely abbey of Bon Repos. A 12C Cisercain abbey that is being restored and is well worth a visit. In August every year they host an evening of story telling and lights which is always a sell out. On Sundays there is a colourful market beside the abbey and the Nantes/Brest canal. A little further afield 50 mins are the famous standing stones at Carnac, which is at the gateway to the Golf de Morbihan and its hundreds of islands, again one can visit by boat. We give lots of helpful tips and advice in our welcome pack.
Characterful, spacious, clean property – the best we have stayed at. We were a three generation holiday and the property suited everyone. Jeremy and Judith were welcoming owners and it really was a relaxing week. Beautiful countryside with stunning views, lovely boulangerie and plenty to do for days out. Everyone enjoyed the boating lake.
Thank you so much for your kind review. It was so lovely to see the three generations enjoying themselves and we are very pleased that you had a good holiday. I think that all our guests love the rowing boat and lake, good family fun!
You would be very welcome at anytime. Thank you again. Judith
Fantastic quiet and relaxing location which is close to good road links allowing access to a wide range of what Brittany has to offer.
The owners were very friendly and welcoming and have a superb site with plenty of walks to do from the premises without needing to drive.
A local bakery is in the village and easily walkable.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 week stay in 2018.
Thank you so much for your review. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your holiday and that it lived up to expectations.
Thank you. Judith
We had a fantastic holiday. The property had everything you could possibly want (pool, BBQ, space, fully equipped kitchen, lots of rooms) and the owners were extremely helpful and responsive. Very peaceful setting (the sunny garden is huge surrounded by empty fields, forests and a lake). Beach is just under 1 hour away (car) and lovely. I strongly recommend this property, you will have a great time.
Thank you so much for your review. We are so pleased that you had a good holiday, we enjoyed meeting you all.
