Those guests requiring it to be heated in May or September would incur a small surcharge of £50/ week

Maison Bleue is situated in a small village in the south east of Brittany about 20 miles from the walled city of Vannes and a 10min drive to the pretty historic coastal town of La Roche Bernard. The village has an Auberge serving traditional French food, a café/bar, 2 small supermarkets including a butchery in the Votra Marche. There is also a Post Office and pharmacy and of course the all-important boulangerie! Like most French villages there is also a large church.
In 2018 we added two en suite bathrooms which has been a great improvement. Our guests this year have really appreciated this especially when all bedrooms have been full.

The house sleeps 8 people with two double bedrooms upstairs (one is a twin) sharing a bathroom, the third bedroom upstairs is en suite with a shower bath. The fourth bedroom is downstairs and is also en suite with a walk in shower. It is adjacent to the large downstairs summer kitchen. The bedroom downstairs has a king size bed which can be converted to a twin, it benefits memory foam mattresses. It has a tv with video. There is also an extra z-bed available suitable for a child at an extra charge of £15/ week. Linen and towels are supplied free. Upstairs there is a large lounge with a verandah, ideal for having your morning coffee or breakfast, and the main kitchen. In the lounge we have Freeview television and dvd player and the all important wi-fi! Downstairs in the summer kitchen there is a large built in woodburner, a double sink, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and a dresser and tv.

The downstairs summer kitchen leads to the garden where there is a large patio that opens to the garden with a fenced 4.6m by10m heated (see above) swimming pool. There is an established mature garden with a beautiful cherry tree and bamboo screen to the neighbours vegetable patch. The pool is surrounded by a patio with sunloungers and tables, there is also a swing hammock to relax in. The pool is in the secure back garden which is fenced off from the main patio area and has a safety net when not in use.

Amenities – Freeview tv, dvd, play station, cd/ radio upstairs and downstairs, indoor/outdoor table tennis, table football, use of beach bats and boule. In the boiler room there is a washing machine and an indoor line for drying. The house has oil-fired central heating. The cooker has a gas hob and electric oven, also there is a microwave. There is a dishwasher in both kitchens saving time taking the garden dishes upstairs. There are fridge-freezers in both kitchens.
Ample off road parking for three cars.

We have free wi-fi at the house!

Locally there is a great deal to see and do. The nearest beaches are about 20mins away at Damgen but we are in easy reach of many other beaches including Carnac, Penestin and St Nazaire (the Riviera of the north). There are many historic towns close by such as Josselin and Rochfort en Terre , both boasting Chateaux. Branfrere, a zoo and botanical garden is in La Guerno (about 3 miles away), is a super day out with animals wandering around the park and ropewalks in the trees for those feeling agile. The Monkey Tree Park is on the way to Guerande ,this being a massive adventure tree park with varying degrees of difficulty for those feeling energetic. Guerande is a beautiful walled town famous for its salt, you can visit the salt fields in the surrounding countryside. In this town there are many restaurants including creperies, and lots of shops selling everything from pottery to chocolates to local arts and crafts. Vannes is about 20miles away and is a very interesting walled town with a port right by the entrance to the old part, it has a good market on a Wednesday.
Most of the local towns have markets each week selling everything from locally produced foods to clothes and crafts always a treat to wander around.

There are plenty of restaurants and creperies in the local vicinity. We have a folder with suggested places to eat with comments from visitors.

Lovely place plenty of room and pet friendly too. Great quiet location, beautiful garden with swimming pool as well. Outside dining if the weather is good.
Plenty to do and see in the surrounding areas which are just a short drive away.
Have stayed here before and hope to again. The owners are lovely and friendly, alway just a phone call away if there was to be any problems.

Lovely, quiet location. very friendly village-very quiet though. The shops are good, but you need to be aware of the opening times. The supermarket has an excellent butchery department and teh boulangerie is fantastic -lovely apple pies and croissants. Weather in Peaule is generally about 3-5C hotter than UK but can be cloudy.
Pool is good, but we had some issues with the solar heating and filter system-although these were very quickly sored by Julian and Penny -the housekeepers. They were also very helpful with our arrival by purchasing some local provisions for us for when we arrived.
The local area is interesting, but again, if planning lunch out check times for opening times / service etc.
Villa very spacious, private and comfortable.

Owner response

Thank you very much for your review. It is quiet but that's what we liked about it. The weather as anywhere can change and I think it had just turned when you arrived ! Everyone else had experienced the heatwave!
Thanks again

This is our second stay at Maision Bleue, and it only gets better. Jane and Andy seem to be constantly improving the place. Our stay this year was helped by the weather being beautiful and sunny, enabling us to make good use of the pool area. The house keepers used, Julian & Penny were very helpful too. Me, my wife and the 2 dogs thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Lovely French home in a quiet French village. Jane the owner has been very helpful to us with advice on traveling to the house from the UK too. Making the whole experience easier. Hope to return soon.

Owner response

Thank you for your review Peter, it's good to know our improvements work, hope to see you next year!

This House is a slice of Heaven. It is at the edge of a lovely little village that has a fantastic boulangerie (bakery) and very friendly residents
With Muzillac but a 10 min drive away you have a great super market and other amenities whilst staying on the edge of the idyllic French countryside
The local area has much to offer in the form of beautiful little villages to explore, family attractions, markets and Chateau’s galore
The house itself is well set out, with plenty of space and a swimming pool in a large garden with a summer kitchen for ease
To get away from it all whilst still having plenty to do if you fancy it, I couldn’t recommend this place highly enough

Owner response

Thank you for this kind review . I am so glad you enjoyed your stay, do come back !
