|Why this location?||We chose the area around the River Blavet for its beautiful, unspoilt environment. It offers great opportunities for walking, cycling and canoeing and also has a host of historical towns nearby as well as incredible beaches and esturies.|
|Unique benefits of property||Our property is in a tiny hamlet called Nevedic which means 'Little Sanctuary'. It is the tranquility of the environment that most visitors comment on and they all find our ancient stone cottages stunningly beautiful.|
There are many sandy beaches, within easy driving distance of Munro Brittany Cottages, many offering a full range of water sports. The nearest sandy beach is at Port Louis. Popular beach areas include Carnac, La Trinite Sur Mer, Larmor Plage, and St Pierre-Quiberon. Quiet beaches, with nature reserves, big sand dunes and wide open spaces can be found from Gavres to Penthièvre. Beaches in general never get crowded and are very clean.
We have several bicycles available for use by guests and are happy to advise on routes and give support for all levels. The roads are maintained in good condition and offer quiet and exciting cycling opportunities for intermediates and advanced level cyclists. The River Blavet towpath stretches for many miles, it is well maintained and level, ideal for novice cyclists or those who want a quiet undemanding day out. There are 2 lunch venues within easy reach along the towpath.
Windsurfing and kite surfing, areas include Penthievre east of Port Louis. This is where our son learnt to kite surf while visiting us on holiday and is now hooked.
Poul Fetan a village of Breton's historical culture is just a very short walk away, with a tavern and restaurant, open throughout the summer season. In July and August it also sells freshly baked bread. The weir and boating lock on the River Blavet is just 15 minutes walk away, were you will find a bar with outside tables and chairs serving light snacks, ice-creams and refreshments during the summer season.
A picturesque Gite in a truly rural setting. A car is essential to get around. The property was clean and well maintained and contained all the basic equipment for the holiday. The garden was beautiful and interesting with carefully placed seating throughout. The owners provided an excellent service including a welcome pack of basic commodities. They were willing to give advice and information on local restaurants and places to visit.
We enjoyed cycling along the river Blavet and there were interesting walks locally. There were maps available in the Gite.
Some information in the description needs updating, eg the existence of a bakery in the open air museum next door at Poul Feton.
The wood fired hot tub is great to unwind in the evening
Thank you for your review which gives a good description of Vine Cottage and the opportunities for walking and cycling from our doorstep. We are so pleased that your stay was a success and you were able to enjoy the garden. I will certainly amend the details for the museum as that has recently changed as you noted. Thank you. We hope to see you again in the future.
Beautiful cottage in rural Brittany. Exceeded all our expectations. A lovely base for exploring the peaceful cycle routes and small roads of the area, great for walking or just relaxing in the lovely garden. The hosts Linda and David were very helpful and welcoming.
Thank you very much for your generous review. It gave us great pleasure to see you enjoying the cycling opportunities this area offers. You certainly took advantage of exploring the area on two wheels!
A great place to stay, both David and Linda were so friendly and helpful and had left a welcome basket in the kitchen for us which was a lovely touch. David even showed us where the best walks were coming along part way with us. First day in Poul Fetan had a cider festival at the local village, a good way to get to know the place. Apple trees everywhere. We had a few evenings in the hot tub in the garden watching the stars come up. Could not believe the restaurants and how busy they were at lunch time, we went into Melrand about 1.30pm and people were just leaving and told a table would be available in 5 minutes. We had a litre bottle of cider between us plus a three course lunch and it came to a total of 23 Euros! Wonderful value. Went for long walks along the river bank, there is plenty to see and do. Would really recommend going there and we hope to go back again.
Thanks again Linda and David.
Thank you so much for this wonderful review.
We are delighted that you enjoyed the area and were able to take time to relax in the hot tub. People often tell us they have their best night's sleep in years after relaxing in the tub!
Your comment about the restaurants is very accurate - at lunchtime they are bustling with locals and give excellent value. We are always happy to provide recommendations for the best in the area. We also do our best to help with walks and cycle rides, accompanying guests if they would like us to so that they can discover this beautiful area.
We hope to see you here again one day.
It's not the first time we have stayed here. We have used all three gites, and can say that all are great holiday accommodation. You are always greeted with a warm welcome. Wonderful location with easy access to beach, countyside or city. Whatever you are looking for, this covers it all. Gites contain everything you need for a peaceful comfortable stay, with some excellent restaurants nearby. Linda and David are always helpful and accommodating. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for the perfect Brittany get away.
