There are many sandy beaches, within easy driving distance of Munro Brittany Cottages, many offering a full range of water sports. The nearest sandy beach is at Port Louis. Popular beach areas include Carnac, La Trinite Sur Mer, Larmor Plage, and St Pierre-Quiberon. Quiet beaches, with nature reserves, big sand dunes and wide open spaces can be found from Gavres to Penthièvre. Beaches in general never get crowded and are very clean.
We have several bicycles available for use by guests and are happy to advise on routes and give support for all levels. The roads are maintained in good condition and offer quiet and exciting cycling opportunities for intermediates and advanced level cyclists. The River Blavet towpath stretches for many miles, it is well maintained and level, ideal for novice cyclists or those who want a quiet undemanding day out. There are 2 lunch venues within easy reach along the towpath.
Windsurfing and kite surfing, areas include Penthievre east of Port Louis. This is where our son learnt to kite surf while visiting us on holiday and is now hooked.
Poul Fetan a village of Breton's historical culture is just a very short walk away, with a tavern and restaurant, open throughout the summer season. In July and August it also sells freshly baked bread. Linda and David have just provided us with two weeks of wonderful comfort and relaxation and were excellent hosts, always on hand with ideas and information for where to go and what to do.
Bamboo Cottage is compact but has everything that a couple need. It is very clean, comfortable, has a great bed, WiFi and Sky TV and even bath robes and flip flops to wear when using the hot tub in the garden. The Welcome hamper was very well received after our journey and included home-made bread, eggs from Linda and David’s chickens, cheese and wine. The garden is a real treat with plenty of shady and sunny areas for eating and relaxing and star gazing under the dark skies. Quistinic is the nearest village, a short walk along a wooded footpath. The village restaurant/bar is basic but good value and the tea salon is superb. There are supermarkets within easy reach and a visit to the Crêperie Au Coin Tranquille at St Tugdal is a must. The area is packed with walks around local villages and the beautiful River Blavet has a well surfaced towpath providing easy walking or cycling with some nice little cafes and bars. For more enthusiastic cyclists the local quiet roads have enough hills to be interesting but plenty of space.
We visited Port Aven which is packed with artist and galleries, mediaeval Josselyn and Pontivy.
Linda and David made sure that our whole visit went smoothly and went out of their way to ensure that our holiday was memorable – they even took us on a bat watching.
