This is our nearest town situated about 7 miles (10 kilometers) from the gite. Now a quiet market town where the River Blavet meets the Nantes-Brest Canal, Pontivy was once the seat of one of Brittany’s most powerful families before becoming one of Napoléon’s ‘new towns’. Visit the castle then amble around the streets. Enjoy a lunch by the river or an evening meal at one of the many good restaurants. Well worth a visit is the market every Monday. There are several large supermarkets. The ancient towns of Vannes and Josselin merit a visit and a must do on a nice day is 40 minute drive to Lake Guerledan, the largest in Brittany. If you wish to stay nearer home enjoy the several walks direct from the gite without having to take the car !!!
