Clandy Cottage is spacious yet homely. It is a renovated section of a 200 year old Breton longere, which in its past life was a cider press and farm building. The remainder of the longere is unused giving Clandy Cottage privacy, peace and quiet. It is ideally suited as a romantic getaway for a busy couple who need to have time to relax and unwind. Many guests have said that the photos do not do Clandy Cottage justice.
Being on the edge of the village provides the best of both worlds - the centre of Seglien is only a pleasant 3 minute stroll away, ideal for wandering up to get your French baguette and croissant each morning, whilst the absolute tranquility is interrupted by the occasional farmer's tractor coming back from the surrounding fields, this makes for the ideal location for a restful break.

We are an international teaching couple from Australia and the UK and have lived and worked in Australia, the UK, the US, Qatar, India and China. We love France and while not always in residence we have run the property as gites for over 10 years.

|Why this location?||We loved the rural village location in a part of France with great character and a simple and relaxed way of life. The beautiful rolling green hills scenery of Brittany was another feature. Being close to the UK was another reason we chose the area in particular and being so central in Brittany meant we were close to the north, west and south coasts which made it a great base to see Brittany from. We chose this property because we loved the old longere style and the small rural village life yet were close to larger towns. The peace and quiet was a major attraction for us.|
|Unique benefits of property||Hi quality well finished cottages designed for couples only. Each cottage is spacious and fully equipped to a high standard. The cottages are on the edge of a small rural village so you get the peace and quiet of the rural French countryside but also the small village life. While the property has 3 cottages on it they are each very private and none are next to each. The property can lend itself to groups of friends who wish a property where they have their own space but at the same time are with friends. The area is beautiful with the rolling hills of Brittany and a very quiet pace of life. Our central location means we are only and hour and half from the north, west and southern coasts and making it a great base to explore all of Brittany for a week or two. Locally there are lakes for swimming and walking around, the Brest-Nantes Canal to explore and much more.|
Many of our guests have written reviews on Trip advisor suggesting our cottages are great central locations for exploring Brittany. We have had guests with many different interests, ranging from walking, to cycling the Nantes Brest canal, to stained glass windows in many of the local churches, and they have found the location perfect.
We love to explore further afield, the Southern beaches/coastal towns of Brittany are only 40 minutes away, our favourites are Concarneau and Quimper. The Northern coast is 1 1/2 hours drive, our favourite bay is St Lunaire, which is not too far from Dinard. The Western beaches are within 2 hours from Seglien. We are partial to driving along the coastal road and turning down any rue marked plage - we have discovered some amazing off the beaten track bays, beaches and seaside villages.
We have a favourite for Plat du jour in Guemene sur Scorff, Les Trois Merchants. you have to book ahead. La pizzeria in Langoelen is also worth a visit.
We enjoy walking around the shops in Pontivy, they have a good market to rummage around on a Monday
During the summer months, we love to spend time in the garden; barbequing, long lazy lunches or relaxing and reading. Seglien is a very quiet village, and we love to stroll around the village in the evenings,
The Lac de Guerledan with hiking trails, abandoned water mills, picnic areas and a variety of water sports at le Rond Point or Beau Rivage. There is a beach area with bbq facilities. We love to go to the beach area or walk/cycle around the edge of the lake. The lake is also a safe swimming place.
A lovely stay in a very beautiful quiet location that has easy access to so many other events and places. The wood burner was a real treat, and we named her 'Matilda' who gave us great comfort during our early Spring stay. Despite the early stay, we were able to enjoy coffee outside on the small patio. We found the various leaflets and maps most helpful, and good information and shopping was available at the neighbouring town- very convenient,
We would recommend this cottage to any peace loving couples who enjoy the country, and found everything required available in the very well stocked kitten/living room area. There was plenty of space with a lovely comfy settee. Sleeping area and bathroom facilities were excellent.
