About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Chris Irvine

Having enjoyed renovating properties in Devon, I moved to this lovely part of Brittany with my husband in 2008. Since then, the renovation "bug" has continued and we take great pleasure from seeing the enjoyment that our guests and many returning guests experience from what we can offer.

Year property purchased 2008
Why this location? Peaceful rural location yet within 1km of the village and easy driving distance for visiting beaches or the many historic towns of southern Brittany.
Unique benefits of property The peace and tranquility, together with the exclusive use of the heated pool, large secure landscaped gardens and outstanding Baby/Toddler facilities, make for the perfect location where couples or young families can relax.

The Owner Recommends

The large beautiful sandy beaches of southern Brittany, such as Lamor Plage or Carnac, offer an excellent choice of secluded coves, with large expanses of sand and watersport facilities.

Historic towns

The towns Vannes, Auray, Pontivy with their cobbled streets and weekly markets, offering plenty of choice of fresh produce.

Megaliths - "standing stones"

One of the best sites to visit to see one of the many Neolithic remaining sites of "standing stones" is the alignments at Carnac. The stones, together with the very informative Visitor Centre, is certainly worthy of a visit.

Places to Eat

Les Rendez-Vous des Pecheurs, overlooking the river Blavet at Pont Augan (3 km)

Au Coin Tranquille - a brilliant Crêperie - St Tugual (4 km)

La Tourelle at Melrand (7 km)

Cheval Blanc in Baud (9 km)

For those who just want an easy meal without having to go out after a day relaxing by the pool, Daisy Chain Catering, a local catering service are happy to provide meals, right to your gite.

Or, for those who enjoy a evening stroll, "Pizza Phil", visits the centre of Quistinic once a week, where you can order a freshly baked pizza.

Poul Fetan

An ancient 16th century working farm just on the edge of Quistinic, where you can discover how the Breton people lived and worked.

We can't rate our stay highly enough. The gite has EVERYTHING you need and both house and garden and swimming pool were in immaculate condition. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of life this is for you. We didn't have children but could see from the toys in the games room and the equipment in the garden that they would have been fully occupied.

The owners responded quickly to my emails when I was arranging my booking. They were approachable and available but not intrusive. We got lots of great ideas as to what we could do in the area.

We also took advantage of having a meal left for us on the day of arrival. Really delicious and good sized portions. It was a real treat not to have to worry about cooking after a long day of travelling.

We stayed a fortnight but even before the end of the first week were truly relaxed and refreshed. Just what we needed.

Would highly recommend.

Thanks you.

Although the information and pictures were clear on the internet, it still did not do the gite justice and the amount of thought and attention to detail the owners have put into this property. We were so lucky with the weather and sitting under the shade of the walnut tree and being lucky enough just to watch the deers in the opposite field and dip in and out of the pool was wonderful. The best meal out was at Pont Augan, he could definitely go on the stage that man - never forget it! We don't need beach holidays any more, but they are all within easy driving distance and we did visit them, but were always glad to go back to the quiet and privacy of the gite.
We would love to return and have no hesitation in recommending this holiday home to anyone.

Excellent, quiet gite in beautiful open rural setting. La Chouhette is compact but Chris and Richard have thought of everything and the cottage is very nicely equipped and appointed. The rural setting is lovely with views out of bedroom window to well maintained garden, lovely pool, and out to open fields, pasture, cows and big skies! Set in lovely rural area with pleny accessible sights and visiting points of interest.Log burner if needed; we hope to be back!! We benefited from a very nice meal prepared for us by Daisy Chain (v good menu) in advance and left in our gite for our arrival - recommended!!
