We live in the UK and own this holiday property in Brittany.

|Why this location?||Brittany is a wonderful region of France with its own unique culture, language and customs. It's a relaxed laid back place to holiday with generally better weather than the UK. We chose a location near Josselin as it is one of the most beautiful and characterful towns in Brittany, centrally placed just 1.5hrs from the ferry port at St malo and within easy travelling distance of the north and south coasts.|
|Unique benefits of property||Our longere (longhouse) at La Ville au Tady is part of an old farming hamlet built in 1868 and still retaining its character and historic features, like the exposed Chestnut beams and giant granite hearth. Set in over one acre of garden, there are so many outdoor places to sit, eat, and relax you will be spoilt for choice.|
Auray is a lovely old town with lots of shops and restaurants, an old port and an excellent Sunday market.
Carnac is an ancient and historic place with over 3,000 prehistoric megalithic stones. Nearby is the town and beach, so you can combine a visit to both.
The chateau at nearby Josselin is open to the public with English tours in July and August.
The nearest village, Guegon, is just a 5 minute drive and contains a general store, boulangerie-patisserie, doctors, pharmacy, boules court, picnic area, tennis courts and bar.
Brittany has a great choice of historic towns to visit, the best are designated 'small towns of character' and include Josselin, Rochefort en Terre, La Roche Bernard, La Gacilly, Malestroit, Lizio and many others.
The nearest town is Josselin (10 mins) which has a large supermarket and a selection of shops and restaurants in its medieval streets. The Chateau overlooks the banks of the River Oust from where you can hire canoes and hire cycles in summer. Don't miss the bustling Saturday morning street market, great for stocking up on the best local food.
The nearby Lac au Duc (Dukes’ Lake) is an excellent site for relaxation or for water sports enthusiasts (dinghies, catamarans, optimists, windsurfing, mini windsurf, canoeing, rowing, water skiing, etc) and other activities (supervised beaches with full amenities, tennis, volley-ball, golfing, angling, walking or rambling, fitness trail, horse riding, bathing, water slide, etc). It is equipped with playgrounds, picnic areas, etc. All in all the "Lac au Duc" is a wonderful leisure activity centre in which you can devote yourself to the countless sports activities or to the calm of this natural environment (8 miles from Guegon).
There are a choice of three open air swimming pools within a short drive of the cottage at Plumelec, Serent and Reguiny.
There is a huge choice of fine sandy beaches within easy driving distance (30-40 mins), where you can enjoy swimming, sand yachting, waterskiing, windsurfing, sailing or body surfing. Some of the most popular beaches are at Carnac, La Trinite Sur Mer, Lamor Plage, and the Quiberon peninsular.
Vannes is a large town on the edge of the Gulf of Morbihan with an old quarter bustling with good restaurants and small shops. Excellent markets are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays and a famous jazz festival in July.
