|Year property purchased||2007|
|Why this location?||Having looked around Brittany, this area, for us, offers the most - wonderfully safe sands, a rugged coastline at Quiberon, English people made to feel very welcome, super walks/bike rides 100yds from the house and most of all, the peace, food and a much warmer climate - on average 5° warmer than South-East England... oh! The night skies are to wonder at!|
|Unique benefits of property||It's all here for your family to enjoy - the comforts of home and the safety and warmth of this truly wonderful hamlet that is Le Lisse - if you want loud noise, traffic and big hotels - definitely stay away from Erdeven - it's a truly magical place and area. We are very fortunate to have many repeat holidaymakers which makes us very happy - we always give priority to previous guests.|
Erdeven and surrounding area is a complete family holiday area for all ages but is unique in its friendliness, beauty and climate.
Nearby Carnac is between Erdeven and Le Trinite sur Mur - our hamlet is called Le Lisse, not far from Erdeven Church. We are not only 5 deg warmer on average than UK temperatures but the air quality allows you to enjoy shooting stars in the wonderful night skies. Make a point of watching the sun go down into the sea at Kerhilio/Erdeven sands, magical!!
Want to go even more places? - grab a boat trip on the idyllic Gulf of Morbihan inland waterway, sample a baguette, or a peach/custard cake for lunch in the picturesque seafront in La Trinite. If you like photographs/pictures visit the shop opposite the loos!!.
Want to see the area? Nearby are the world famous Carnac Stones/Megaliths, the quaint old port and town of Auray, Beltz, park the car - free - and walk, take a picnic with you - around to the bridge in front of the idyllic St Cado - the house in the Gulf of Morbihan inland waterway. Walk around the pathway from the side of the church to witness stunning scenes. Another favourite is to visit the picturesque La Trinite sur Mer, try the walk from the Mairie, up the hill and follow the coastal path. For blowy days the wild scenery and spectacular cliff-top walk at the Quiberon Peninsular, go via Pontivy and take the coastal walk from the port area - magical on a windy/rainy day seeing the Bay of Biscay in full force!! Other days out? - shop your heart out in Vannes, take in the cathedral near the garden area - 20 mins or Lorient - 30 mins. from house. Not a shopper?, both are ports so a visit the ex-naval ww2 submarine base whilst in Lorient is a must.
Erdeven/Carnac/Auray, etc. is in the most popular part of South Brittany and offers something for all ages and tastes - the food, cider and crepes are to die for! Crepes are a restaurant treat right next to Erdeven Church, simple French food served with love!! Try the cider whilst here!
Locally, there are 3 supermarkets, Super U, Lidle and Intermarche - all within 3km [plus a variety of specialist local shops] and weekly markets in Carnac, a must on Wed. and Saturdays and very locally, the smaller one next to Church in Erdeven. The small shops close to Carnac Tourist office are a treasure trove for trinklets and nic-nacs.
We had an excellent stay and had superb weather.
There is something for everyone here, lovely walks and cycle rides, fabulous beaches and concerts in nearby towns.
The house is clean and very well equipped... we had everything that we could have wanted from bikes to BBQs in the spacious garden.
David and Juliet were the perfect hosts supplying us with volumes of local information from Drs and dentists locally to the nearest and best beaches.
A very good holiday in good accommodation. I would definitely recommend this property, it suited all our requirements- age range 3months to 68 years.
Thank you for your kind comments. We really do try to ensure that our guests have all the comforts of home in addition to experiencing the uncomplicated pleasures that this unique area provides - its micro-climate, night skies, natural beauty and, of course, a real taste of "Breton" life!
A lovely modern property in a small hamlet a few minutes drive from the main village.
We thought we would be able to walk to the village, where there were restaurants, bakery etc, but it was a busy main road with no pavement. Bikes were provided however, and there were cycle routes through the woods etc.
The house was well equipped and everything worked! English tv and good wifi were a big bonus.
The owners were very helpful and provided good advice and clear instructions.
We would have no hesitation in recommending this property and hope to return ourselves again in the future.
We loved the market in nearby Carnac and enjoyed looking round the area.
Try the Galileo restaurant. We avoided it at first thinking it only did pizza. How wrong, it had a huge menu, lots of choice and many French dishes.
Thank you for your kind words and we hope we can accommodate you in the future.
