Myself and my partner are English, but have spent the last 17 yrs working in the tourism industry. We have worked and travelled extensively throughout France and have a great appreciation of the country, its people and culture.
Of all the regions of this diverse country we have found Brittany to have the most welcoming people, the richest culture and the best sea food!
We would love to welcome you here to experience this most beautiful, tranquil and friendly area of France.

|Why this location?||Located just withing Morbihan, on the border of Finistere and Cote d'amour departments, right in the centre of Brittany, the cottage is ideally situated for exploration of this wonderful peninsular of France. The bonus of being slightly inland, is although the fabulous beaches and coastline is easily accessible, we are not affected by the fluxes of the tourist seasons, with the gentle rythme of the true Breton way of life undisturbed - on our doorstep. Our nearest village Langonnet, is the centre of the Breton language, proudly upholding its its history and culture.
Throughout the year there are a variety of traditional Festivals held locally, such as the Fete de La Crepe in Gourin, the Fete de Brodeuse in Pont L'Abbe, regular Pardons (parade ceremonies) of the local churches, plus the internationally acclaimed Lorient Interceltic Festival and the Vielle Charrues music festival - France's answer to Glastonbury!
|Unique benefits of property||Surrounded by rolling countryside and set in 2 acres of gardens it is peaceful and calm. Along with enjoying the tranquillity of the gardens, or maybe a game of Boules (or Petanque), a swim during the summer months or perhaps taking a gentle stroll in the surrounding countryside with walks on the doorstep, we also have the Games room with a Darts board and Table tennis table|
Fascinating situation with the Church clinging to the steep valley side, with flying butresses, an interesting array of gargoyles, Rood screen and large Bell to be rung to ward off any storms! There is a Cafe with a lovely outdoor seating area over looking the valley, plus marked walking circuits with easy to follow markings leading down to the beautiful Elle river.
A lovely lake with a man-made beach, picnic tables and childrens play area. There is a well surfaced, walking path, skirting the water - a gentle stroll will take about 30 mins. There is also fresh water fishing here.
There are weekly local Markets: Le Faouet - 1st & 3rd Wednesday of the month - Morning Gourin - Monday - Morning
Langonnet; - Au Gre du Temps - French cuisine/Creperie Le Faouet: - Le Riviera - Pizzaria/Brasserie - Hotel Le Croix D'Or - French cuisine - Le Thon qui Rit - Pizza/French cuisine Gourin: - Le Table de Morvan - French cuisine - Le Storia - Pizzaria/Italian
The Valley of the Saints is unique: it’s a historic site, a land of legends, and the birthplace of incredible monumental sculptures all in one.
A feudal moat, a 16th-century chapel and giant statues of Breton saints are found here in the undulating Poher landscape.
Around 1500 years ago, priests and monks coming from Great Britain landed on the coast of Brittany. In the village of Carnoët, sculptors have created giant four-metre high granite statues of saints and placed them on a feudal mound with views stretching out as far as the Monts d'Arrée mountains.
East of Concarneau, Pont-Aven is best known for its association with the post-Impressionist painter Paul Gauguin. This attractive little village also has some lovely riverside walks, a mouth-watering food speciality and a colourful summer festival.
As well as being France’s third most important fishing port, Concarneau has other assets that make it a very popular summer resort. The main draw is the quaint ville close (walled town) followed by some lovely sandy beaches and a lively maritime festival in August.
Just had two wonderful weeks at Mimosa Cottage. We felt right at home in the cottage with every thing you could possibly need or want at your finger tips. We are a family of 4 including our 2 teenage daughters who played bridge, table tennis and boules. The paddock is glorious in the sunshine and our dog Gordon had lots of freedom to run around. We visited chateau, museum, fete de la crepe etc. We've been to Brittany lots of times, but discovered new sites and new towns to us like Concarneau. Holly and Cha were great hosts.
