|Why this location?||All our cottages are within an easy drive to the beautiful Lac De Guerledan.|
|Unique benefits of property||All our cottages are family friendly and accommodate children of all ages !|
Lac de Guerledan is an 8 mile long lake that offers a variety of watersports such as water skiing, canoeing, pedaloes. Also lots of signed walks, mountain biking routes along with 3 large sandy beaches with safely identified swimming areas.
Fantastic property and surpassed all expectations on arrival. Very clean and tidy and had all of the facilities and contents that were required. we were with friend but would be equally good for families.
The pool is superb as is the seating outside and the BBQ. Not overlooked at all and the countryside views are brilliant. We visited in September and the weather was not very good but in the sun the cottage would be even better.
I have only marked the local amenities down slightly as the nearby lake was not looking its best in September and other facilities were a little drive away. Though having said that the roads are clear and easy and no journey was difficult.
The advert description was very accurate though as I said on arrival our impressions were better than anticipated!
Thank you for your review. Due to the drought we are currently experiencing the water level in the lake is approximately two to three metres down than usual thus making it a little barron around the edges, no control over that !!
France is a large country and a little more spread out than the UK but the mast majority of Brittany is within an hour or so's drive on uncrowded roads. Local supermarket, banks, bakeries and a Michelin star restaurant are all within ten minutes drive away in the local market town of Mur de Bretagne although the historic market town of Pontivy with its Chateaux, five supermarkets, canal, and shopping is less than twenty minutes away. For rural France, this is actually very good
If you are after a bit of peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings then then this place would be a brilliant choice. The cottage itself is very pretty and well equipped, to a high standard. The beds are comfy and the bathrooms modern; the kitchen is nicely laid out with plenty of cutlery/ crockery etc.
Outside is the real selling point though. Set in farmland, the view from the main seating areas is fantastic. We enjoyed many hours just sitting out there watching the buzzards and the donkeys and just loving the fact that all you can hear are the sounds of nature and the occasional tractor. Could see plenty of stars and hear the occasional owl after dark too. The pool was lovely too, just a nice size and not too cold! our 12 year old spent hours playing in it!
The trade off for the tranquil and picturesque setting is that you do have a little bit of a drive to get to places but the country roads and surrounding areas are so pretty that this didn't bother us at all. We found the best nearby supermarket to be the Super U on the outskirts of Pontivy, about 25 minutes away. Also, Lake Guerledan is very near, only a 5 minute drive or 30 minute walk. There are also some really good walking trails around the lake, with some lovely views.
We had a fantastic two weeks at this cottage and would definitely recommend it for anyone after a quiet, relaxing holiday
Thank you for your kind words, we are really pleased you enjoyed your stay in Walnut Tree Cottage.
France is a huge country therefore a little drive is required to get to see some of the beautiful sites that Brittany has to offer.
We note your comments regarding the drive to the best supermarket however in Mur De Breatgne which is only 10 mins drive away there is an Intermarche Supermarket, several restaurants including a Michelin star restaurant.
We always aim to heat the swimming pool to keep it at a constant 27/28 degrees so it's ideal for swimmers of all ages.
We hoe to see you again in the future.
