This is the second time we have stayed at Herisson Cottage. It is a very pleasant place to stay, offering cycles, kayaks, and a swimming pool. The inflatable kayak is great to use on hot days, although carrying it back up the hill is tiring (still, you can always deflate it slightly).
The house, garden, and pool are very well maintained, clean and tidy.
I would definitely recommend staying here to a relative - the only problem is the lack of a supermarket or local store in St Nicholas itself. This is more than offset by the very friendly bar, O Repair, and the provisions left by the owner on your arrival (bread, milk, wine, butter, jam, water, juice). The nearest supermarket is only 5 minutes' drive away.
The owner is not on site; but is always available by text, and extremely helpful when contacted.
Cycling along the river path is well worth it; Pontivy is 19km upstream with plenty of restaurants in the town (not along the path itself). 18km downstream is Pont Augan, which has a decent bar restaurant offering cheap 4 course lunches. The river path is very well maintained and easy to cycle.

This is a lovely cottage, with a generous sized kitchen and living/dining room, a big garden, and a pool (the pool is shared with next door, also owned by the same people). The garden is a sun trap in the afternoons and we were able to eat outside for some of the week, even in September.
The property is clean and well maintained. The owners are very easy to contact, and very helpful. They also provide some basic provisions so you are not without food when you arrive.
There is no shop in the village; but a local baker delivers and the nearest supermarket is about 3km away. There is a friendly bar (between the creperie and the hotel), where we enjoyed lunch and a few drinks during our stay.
Cycling along the river path in both directions is a joy, especially if you manage to get to Pont Augan and the restuarant des pecheurs, where lunch is incredible value, and the food is excellent. The area also offers a variety of walks, which are easy to follow due to regular marker posts.
Definitely recommended. We hope to go back.

Owner response

We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at Hedgehog Cottage and many thanks for the positive feedback.
We are fortunate here in Morbihan that the summers stretch long into the autumn. Indeed we do not close our pool off until the end of September.
We would be very happy to welcome you back.

9 / 10 NR 29 August, 2017

We had a lovely holiday in this comfortable gites. The village is charming and very peaceful.
The free use of kayaks and bikes was perfect and meant that we spent a lot of time on or by the nearby canal.
We had anticipated taking our dog and elected not to at the last minute due to the hassle of having to get him to a vet pre departure but in fact were glad we had not brought him as the back garden was continuous with the neighbours' garden and I suspect we would often have been chasing round trying to find him in their' gites.
We would recommend it to a friend with the caveat that its decor is old but comfortable.

Owner response

We are really pleased you enjoyed your holiday and thank you for your feedback.
As you know, we only acquired the two neighbouring cottages in July and as we have been fully booked all season, we have been unable to make the changes we wanted.
The cottages will be having a facelift over winter and fencing installed to secure each garden, especially for the safety of small children.
We hope you visit us again.

An excellent cottage in a very picturesque village. The owners were very helpful and all the facilities were exactly as described.
I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for peace and tranquility along with easy access to local towns and stunning scenery.
