The house is 2 minutes walk from the village centre of Kergrist with 2 bar/restaurants and a good shop.
 
Just 10 minutes drive from the house is the town of Pontivy. This is an historic town with an impressive chateau. Here there is a good choice of restaurants, supermarkets and interesting shops. Lac Guerledan is also 10 minutes away and offers a small beach and watersports.
 
Inside La Grande Maison there is a well equipped traditional style kitchen with plenty of space around the farmhouse table to seat 6 guests.
 
The cozy sitting room has ample comfy sofas and an open fire for the cooler months.
 
Downstairs is a gamesroom with table tennis table and gym area. Also there is an extra bathroom and separate toilet on this level.
 
Upstairs there are 2 double en suite bedrooms, a twin, and further separate toilet.
 
The large hot tub is housed within the old stone walls of the former farm buildings and is available for use all the year round for bookings of one week or more. It has views of the gardens.  Perfect for a bit of stargazing at the clear Brittany night time skies! The extensive gardens to the front and rear have a choice of barbecue areas and plenty of garden furniture. We are happy for you to bring your dogs for a nominal charge.
 
The owner can also arrange your pre UK travel vet's appointment.
The owners live in the house next door.  They have  lived here for 14 years and have accumulated a wealth of knowledge of the local area and life in France. They are always happy to help however they can to make your holiday memorable. 

A 10% reduction for under occupancy is applied to couples booking La Grande Maison.

Josselin

About a half hour drive, Josselin is a "petite cite de caractere". The imposing chateau overlooking the Nantes-Berst canal has regular guided tours in English. There is also a puppet museum. The cobbled streets of this medieval townhave numerous eating places. Saturday is market day in Josselin and is popular with locals and tourists alike. A Medieval Festival is held in July.

Lake Guerledan

Just 6km from La Grande Maison is Lake Guerledan. this beautiful lake is well worth visiting. There is a sandy beach, watersports, picnic areas, cafes and a restaurant.

Pontivy

The picturesque town of Pontivy has something for everyone. Quaint cobbled streets with numerous restaurants, cafes and shops. Large supermarkets for those essential supplies. An historic chateau just by the Nantes-Brest canal. The bustling Monday morning market should not be missed. Fresh food and veg and local produce in abundance and numerous quirky stalls for souvenir buying.

South Coast of Brittany

Approximately 45 minutes drive are the south coast beaches. Guidel Plage and Larmor Plage have a typical seaside feel. the beaches are a mixture of sandy coves and rockpools. Seafood dominates the menus dotted around the beaches and oysters and mussels are plentiful.
