After spending many years working in the UK and renovating in France, with the birth of our first child, we finally decided to trade in the city life for rural France. We opened a little bar and restaurant, Aux Sabots Rouges, and have spent our free days restoring our properties with a great deal of consideration and respect to the original features. Now with two children and a popular little business, we enjoy living in the center of the of the village, where we are in touch with local life.

|Why this location?||Our family has been living in central Brittany for over 25 years, and so we know it well, after many years of living and visiting for annual holidays. For us it was our original country retreat from the big city. We love this area for its lush, green and un-spoilt nature. There are so many beautiful walks and fantastic bike rides through the countryside. Plus you are just a stones throw away from so many magnificent southern beaches, the Gulf of Morbihan, the wildness of the west is only an hours drive away and the ruggedness of the north coast is just 1.40min. When we first saw the properties in the middle of Guemene Sur Scorff village, they had been left neglected for many years. Inspired by their potential, and not shy of a project, we took them on and have spent the best part of 13 years bringing them back to life. After many years we first opened 'Aux Sabots Rouge Bar', two years later we opened the restaurant, last year the holiday gite and now the b&b. The project continues....|
|Unique benefits of property||Both the gite and the bed and breakfast have been resorted with huge amounts of dedication and care to create luxurious spaces full of charm. We think they are perfectly placed for those who are in need of rest and recuperation with many little quite spots to hide away, and with the option of village life right on your door step. Surrounded by the local bars & restaurants, boulangeries, shops, banks & supermarkets, this is a perfect place for couples, families, and small groups who would like a getaway and enjoy the option of being close to amenities & with plenty of options to explore the countryside & coast. There are a number of beautiful walks to the surrounding countryside right from the doorstep. Cyclist routes are close by with the Nante Brest Canal just north from us. Guéméne is a pretty little village surrounded by wooded hillsides. Dating back to the 15th century with its historic monument and picturesque buildings it provides culture and interest to many visitors every year. Its most famous for ‘Andouille' and to celebrate, there is a big Andouille festival at the end of August each year with wonderful Breton traditional costumes, music and dancing. Every second year the colourful Cavalcade carnival is held in the center of the town. The Scorff Valley is rich, with protected natural and historical heritage and has 400km of marked trails for both cyclists and walkers to discover, running between woodland and river. Lac du Guerledan is only 30 minutes up the road & offers an array of activity from water sports, bike riding to magnificent walks. Visit the charming little artist town of Pont Aven, with its many galleries, restaurants and nature walks, and from there take a boat trip down the Aven river. Visit the beautiful beaches of southern Brittany- our favourites, Port Manech, Nevez, Guidel, Le Pouldu. Visit the Carnac stones, an exceptionally dense collection of megalithic sites around the village of Carnac. Walk around Huelgoat with its impressive natural setting among the vestiges of the ancient forest that once covered inland Brittany.
