Lac au Duc, Ploermel

This beautiful lake is a hive of activity in the summer months. Many watersports are available, including kayaking and pedaloes. There is a sandy beach and swimming is permitted. There are several bars and restaurants at the lake edge.
A golf course can be found on the other side of the lake.

The beautiful medieval town of Josselin is about a half hour drive from Le Riolo.
The chateau, overlooking the stunning Nantes-Brest canal, is still lived in by the Duke and Duchess of Rohan. The rooms on ground floor level can be visited and there are regular guided tours in both English and French. The gardens are very pretty. There is also a Doll Museum in the town.
A market is held each Saturday where plenty of local produce is for sale.
The pretty cobbled square has numerous eating places where "al fresco" dining can be enjoyed.

In 2015 this pretty village was voted the most "beautiful village in France". Visitors come from far and wide to visit its shops and restaurants.

La Gacilly

Yet another picturesque Breton town. On the banks of the Nantes-Brest canal La Gacilly hosts a photographic exhibition every summer. the pictures can be found all around the town and are impressive in both size and quality.
The town is also home to Yves Rocher beauty products. The shop and spa are located here as is the restaurant. The restaurant is vegetarian - unusual for France!

Beaches of southern Brittany

The coastline of Brittany is varied. the nearest beaches to Le Riolo are Damgan and Larmor Plage. Both being about a 1 hour drive. Here there are plenty of rock pools to explore and lots of golden sand. Seafood is the order of the day for restaurants on the coast and mussels and oysters are favourites!
