We have recently realised our dream of leaving behind the 9-5 jobs and starting a new life in this beautiful area of France. We holidayed a lot in France when our 3 children where little, and more recently after they'd fled the nest and always enjoyed the peace and quiet of the countryside. Our aim is to enjoy a quieter life , growing our own veggies and keeping a couple of chickens for fresh eggs, improving our French and generally living the joie de vie.

|Why this location?||We are so lucky to have found our dream house on our first viewing trip. It is an old farmhouse, with two adjoining stone cottages which are the gites. The location is rural and very quiet and peaceful and yet villages with all essentials such as bakery, supermarkets and pharmacies, as well as restaurants and bars, are less than 10 minutes drive away. We are not overlooked and the panoramic views from the house at any time of the year are stunning. We are just a few minutes walk away from l' Oust River and the Brest-Nantes Canal with its miles of safe walking and cycling paths.|
|Unique benefits of property||For a truly french rural experience stay in one of our two stone cottages. You will enjoy the peace and quiet and fabulous views of the valley down to the river. Fishing permits can be obtained in advance so that you are all ready to go. The nearby canal path offers miles of safe walking or cycling with pretty locks along the way. The roads here are ideal for cycling as they are quiet and travel through the beautiful countryside and pretty medieval towns such as Josselin, Pontivy and Rochefort en Terre are all nearby. Across the valley you can see the Abbaye de Timadeuc, a Cistercian Monastery which is just 20 minutes walk or a few minutes drive away. This fascinating Abbaye is open to the public and you can even join the monks for mass on Sundays. The area has two beautiful inland lakes, Lac au Duc and Lac de Guerledan offering scenic walks, beaches and watersports. The southern Brittany beaches and amazing prehistoric standing stones at Carnac and are around an hours drive away.|
In our nearest village, Credin, about 5 minutes drive away La Clochette is a friendly bar/restaurant with a great atmosphere run by an English couple. Open every day except Monday.
Very nice creperie in Credin serving traditional galettes and crepes , open most lunchtimes and evenings
A lovely restaurant in Rohan overlooking the canal open most lunchtimes and evening. Serves French, European and Italian food.
A very nice creperie in Rohan (about 6 minutes drive away) serving traditional Breton crepes and galettes (savoury pancakes) as well as steaks , salads etc. Perfect when washed down with a jug of Breton cidre. Its in a great location overlooking the canal
Wonderful stay in Lavender Cottage. The cottage is well equipped and very clean. The hosts live on site in an adjoining building but they are not intrusive and privacy is assured. The cottage is like a TARDIS, so spacious inside. They are modern, clean and bright while retaining a real cottage feel. There is a warm, homely and relaxing vibe, and we spent many a night-in just relaxing in front of the fire with a glass or two of wine or sampling the local cider. Heaven!
The views from the cottage over the valley is amazing, and the weather was warm enough to take a dip in the pool. You have your own private garden to relax in. The area surrounding the cottage is beautiful with lots of small villages full of medieval character, with a working abbey just 5 minutes away. I really enjoyed the walks along the canal with our dogs who seemed to love it as much as we did.
It is so peaceful and relaxing here, a world away from the hustle and bustle of back home, and the roads are so empty and enjoyable to drive on.
I can whole-heartily recommend these cottages to couples and families, and will be returning. Loved it.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay here, and look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

Top class stay at this lovely gite. Tony and Pauline are wonderful hosts, there if you need anything but never intrusive.
Lovely location. Very rural setting but bars and restaurants all within a 5 min drive.
Pool was a delight to cool down on hot days.
Thank you for your lovely review of your stay jn Lavender Cottage. We are so glad you enjoyed your holiday and hope to see you again at some time in the future.
This is a new build gite adjacent to the owners house and has all mod cons. It's in a beautiful rural location not far from the town of Rohan. It's warm, clean, comfortable and well equipped. Pauline and Tony, an English couple, are just a few yards away if required but the gite is completely private.
The countryside is fabulous and the Nantes-Brest canal is within walking distance, this alone is worth considering as it's so tranquil. There's also a lot of history here as the French resistance and SOE were very active during WW2 and a nearby field was a landing ground for the Westland Lysander aircraft that took agents in and out of France.
It's only a short drive from some of the most scenic towns and beaches in Brittany and the Roscoff or St.Malo ferries are not too far away.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this gite.
Thank you for your lovely review. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay in Lavender Cottage and were able to get out and about to enjoy the many pretty and interesting villages this area has to offer.
We had a lovely stay at Lavender cottage. The property was very accurately described, both clean and well maintained. Pauline and Tony provided excellent customer service. I would recommend this property to my freinds and family.
Thank you for your lovely review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us and that the children were able to have fun in the pool, which they had been looking forward to so much. We hope to be able to welcome you again in the future as there is still a lot more to explore in beautiful Brittany.
