A Haven of Tranquility. This cottage/gite is in a village setting.

Maison du Cidre is a comfortable gite in Lizio, a small village in rural Brittany.

The property can accommodate 5/6 guests in 3 bedrooms. It has 2 shower rooms, one of which is on the ground floor.

As you approach the property through the small gate you will see the large garden ahead with flower beds and several mature trees. The front door opens directly into the well fitted kitchen, complete with a dining table to seat 6 guests.
The cozy sitting room has a feature fireplace. There is also UK TV available and French TV will soon be installed in one of the bedrooms. Wi-fi is available throughout the property. Also on ground floor is a utility room which houses the washing machine and a freezer.

The ground floor shower room has a shower cubicle, toilet and wash basin.

Upstairs are the 3 bedrooms. The smallest of these has a single bed with a "pullout" bed underneath making it suitable for either 1 or 2 guests. Bedroom 2 and Bedroom 3 both have double beds plus wardrobe and drawer space.

The upstairs shower room is well fitted with a shower cubicle, wash basin and toilet.

Outside the large garden lends itself perfectly to relaxing in the sunshine with a glass of wine after a hard day sightseeing!
A bbq is available. Also outdoor relaxing deckchairs and an outdoor table and chairs set.

Well behaved dogs are welcome to stay (maximum 2) by prior arrangement. We can help with your vet's appointment before travel back to the UK. There is a £10 per week cleaning charge for your dog. Please don't allow your dog on furniture or beds.

About the Owner/Advertiser, Ms Faye Beardsley

Eric and Christine purchased their lovely home in France several years ago. They have spent a lot of time renovating the property to make it into a comfortable welcoming home. They have lived in the house for two years but are now returning to the UK due to a change in circumstances.

Josselin,12km from Lizio, is well worth a visit. A "petite cite de caractere", its medieval chateau is home to the aristocratic Rohan family. Guided tours in both English and French are available. There is also a Doll Museum in the town. A market is held every Saturday and there are many bars and restaurants in the centre. Bicycle and boat hire near the chateau.

Le Bois d'Amour, Josselin

"Le Bois d'Amour", (Lovers Wood). Here you will literally find a "park in a town". It has been created to promote nature and the environment. There is an open air theatre where music events are held during the summer months. access it. It has been very well landscaped and contains wooded sections and a stream flowing throughout. Displays are provided which explain the wildlife of the area in pictures and sounds. There are plenty of benches provided throughout the park as well as picnic tables and even a boules court. Also a small childrens' play area. An amphitheatre stages open air films and concerts during the summer, and look out for the water powered clock.

Lac au Ducs, Ploermel

About 15 minutes drive away is the Lac au Duc. Here there is a small beach with watersports. At the edge of the lake are several cafes and restaurants.

La Gacilly

Nearby is the charming town of La Gacilly. During the summer months an outdoor photographic exhibition is held. Boat trips on the canal are available. The Yves Rocher factory, shop and Spa are situated here. Also a vegetarian restaurant - very unusual in France!


Rochefort-en-Terre, about 45 minutes away, was voted “prettiest village in France” in 2015. With its cobbled streets, plentiful restaurants and shops, it is a must on your holiday agenda!

Musee de la Resistance, St Marcel

The fascinating 'Musée de la Resistance is at St Marcel. It chronicles the vital role played by the people of Brittany at the time of the German Occupation during the second World War.
Close to St Marcel is the delightful market and canalside town of Malestroit.


The walled city of Vannes is about a 45 minute drive from Lizio. The harbourside restaurants in Vannes are always busy in the summer months. The local seafood, oysters and mussels being particularly popular.

Prehistoric Park

The Prehistoric Park at Malansac, about 45 minutes away, is another great day out for the youngsters. There are 30 scenes of reconstruction of the dinosaur age. The park is based on models and information from the Natural History Museum in Paris.
