If you don't want to eat 'in' or bbq in the garden, there is plenty of choice, when eating out. Dinan has loads of lovely restaurants and cafes. Try 'La Terrasse' in the old Port. Also highly recommended are:- 'La Vieille Auberge' in Trefumel. The proprietor is a lovely lady, who speaks very good English, if you get stuck with your French! The food and the service are superb. 'Le Relais de La Rance' at Quedillac is also worth a visit. Haute cuisine!
Golf, horse riding and watersports nearby.
This is a wonderful area to explore. The cottage is approx 30 mins drive to the coast, where there is an abundance of sandy beaches - St Cast has 7! Dinard, Erquy, Val-Andre, Cap Frehel and Fort La Latte, St Malo old town and Mont St Michel are well worth visiting. The North Breton coastline is beautiful, with rugged cliffs and sandy bays - wonderful for walking or just lazing in the sun. In summer, there are lots of childrens beach clubs for supervised activities, so parents can have some time off too! There are also lots of very lovely walks along the River Rance and the Canal - try Evran and Treverien. For other local activities such as :- markets and shopping (shoe supermarkets at Quevert are great - really cheap but good quality); chateaux and gardens; boat trips; aquariums; galleries and museums (car museum at Loheac is superb!) - see the many brochures on file at the cottage. There is something to interest everyone.
We had a great family holiday at hedghog cottage. Our children absolutely loved the massive orchard which was attached - plenty room to play safely. The house had everything we needed - it was a real bonus to have a washing machine. It's situated in a lovely quiet area, but within a short drive of lots of beaches - and nearby Cobac park was also a hit for the children. Great value cottage which we would highly recommended.

Absolutely fantastic stay, accommodation was easy to find, clean, spacious and the gardens were beautiful. Sitting outside with the (provided) bbq, with a glass of wine really cannot be beaten. Absolutely gutted to be home after a super 12 days with great friends.
We made use of the log burner in the lounge, (plenty of logs outside) which made the lounge really cosy in the evening. Kitchen was well kitted out, large fridge (needed with all the cheese we bought!)
Locally spent a lot of time in Dinan, beautiful little town about ten minutes away with numerous restaurants. We ate at "Le Fleur de Sel", (lovely little traditional french restaurant), Le Lycorne is also highly recommended!
We hired a little boat in Dinan and spent the day with a bottle of wine on the river, plenty of lock stops for a picnic too!
We would definitely stay here again and already planning our next trip !
My only complaint is that my waistline will now take a few weeks to recover from the 2 weeks or eating cheese, and pate !
We spent a week in May in this lovely renovated oak-beamed farmhouse. It was very comfortable and well equipped – so nice to find plenty of crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. The large garden has several seating areas, a BBQ and games equipment. There were also adult’s and children’s bikes provided, which was great for exploring the quiet roads and lanes in the area. There is plenty of wildlife to be seen, including a friendly woodpecker that came to visit several times! We also enjoyed exploring the historic towns nearby, and the coast is beautiful. The cottage is very good value and I would definitely recommend it.
Gorgeous setting and surroundings. Not far from towns. Plenty of information available to visitors at the house from previous guests and owners.
Freezer door broken, lots of spiders and webs, but probably because it had been empty previously?
