La Belle Maison is situated in a truly tranquil location near the River Lie and Loudeac Forest, where the stresses of everyday life can be easily put aside.
The property is a charming detached cottage which is especially popular with couples seeking a tranquil country retreat and comfortably accommodates up to 4 guests. The single storey accommodation has been extensively upgraded to ensure La Belle Maison is a comfortable and well equipped home from home suitable for self-catering holidays throughout the year.
The cottage is approached through a private south west facing garden, which benefits from the sun throughout the day and on into the summer evenings, when wonderful sunsets over the forest can be enjoyed. The mature garden has a built-in barbecue, hardwood table with chairs and parasol in a sheltered outdoor dining space, along with 2 zero gravity recliners - ideal for snoozing.
Take a stroll down to the nearby river to cool off beside the calm waters of an ancient deer crossing or follow it downstream a little to the weir which attracts many trout fishermen. For the more energetic, follow the marked cycle or rambling trails or join a pony trek through the nearby forest. Alternatively, hire canoes at the neighbouring village of La Prenessaye and explore further down river. Break for lunch at one of the local creperies.
Within a short drive there are medieval market towns, good quality restaurants, a wide variety of historic sites, large inland lakes with watersports, fishing and boating, the beautifully scenic north coast beaches and international standard golf courses to provide plenty of options for everyone.
The area is equally appealing to anyone who enjoys meandering around small medieval towns - don't miss nearby Moncontour, which is just minutes away and is amazing; the Fete des Ramparts shared bi-annually with Dinan is a must. For those who enjoy browsing the many local markets there is plenty of fresh produce to discover - goats cheeses, honey, shellfish, pork and freshly picked vegetables are piled high beside art and craft or brocante stalls.
The English owners live in the same hamlet and personally maintain La Belle Maison, they are available to answer any queries to help guests make the most of their stay in this beautiful and friendly area of Brittany.

We swapped the busy pressures of running a business in England for the relaxed pace of a French rural life; it’s a world away from sitting in traffic jams and the hectic life we used to have. It took 18 months of hard work before the properties were ready to welcome our first guests for Easter 2006; since then we have enjoyed welcoming guests who want to experience a relaxing gite holiday in Brittany, it’s nice that other people feel as happy here as we do.
