About this property

Grand Camus is a Charming Gite in Brittany, near River and Forest. This cottage/gite is in a rural setting.

Grand Camus is situated in a tranquil location on the edge of ancient moorland, where the stresses of everyday life can be easily put aside. This former farmhouse has been luxuriously converted into exceptionally flexible holiday accommodation suitable for families or groups of friends.
The property has spacious grounds that are ideal for barbecues or relaxing with a book and a drink whilst watching birdlife or the stars! Take a stroll down country lanes, or for the more energetic, follow the marked cycle or rambling trails or join a pony trek through the nearby forest. Alternatively, hire canoes at the neighbouring village of La Prenessaye and explore further down river. Break for lunch at one of the local creperies.
Within a short drive there are medieval market towns, good quality restaurants, a wide variety of historic sites, large inland lakes with watersports, fishing and boating, the beautifully scenic north coast beaches and international standard golf courses to provide plenty of options for everyone.
The area is equally appealing to anyone who enjoys meandering around small medieval towns - don't miss nearby Moncontour, which is just minutes away and is amazing; the Fete des Ramparts shared bi-annually with Dinan is a must. For those who enjoy browsing the many local markets there is plenty of fresh produce to discover - goats cheeses, honey, shellfish, pork and freshly picked vegetables are piled high beside art and craft or brocante stalls.
The English managers live nearby and maintain the gite personally and are available to answer any queries to help guests make the most of their stay in this beautiful and friendly area of Brittany.
More information and photos can be seen on the website.
Completely flexible changeover days and short breaks available from September to June.

About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Penny McClure

We swapped the busy pressures of running a business in England for the relaxed pace of a French rural life; it’s a world away from sitting in traffic jams and the hectic life we used to have. It took 18 months of hard work before the properties were ready to welcome our first guests for Easter 2006; since then we have enjoyed welcoming guests who want to experience a relaxing gite holiday in Brittany, it’s nice that other people feel as happy here as we do.

A lovely place that allows you to relax. Within an hours drive of the coast and some wonderful beaches and seaside towns/villages. Great restaurants nearby. Our latest visit was our 6th.

10 / 10 alemap 8 October, 2017

We have always booked self catering cottages or gites for our holidays, so have a wide experience of both good and bad. The Grand Camus was outstanding. From the lovely rural setting, great garden, and the facilities offered in the gite itself, it couldn't be better. It was clean, warm, comfortable and furnished to a very high standard. The welcome pack was much appreciated, and helpful information provided by the owner was very useful. We would have no hesitation on recommending this property to friends or family.

10 / 10 Mackrell 9 June, 2017

Le Camus is tucked away down a quiet country road and in a lovely setting. Everything you could wish for was provided and was very well equipped and comfortable. There are some pretty villages within a few miles of the house and is not too far from the coast. We will definitely return.

10 / 10 J&A 30 April, 2017

We have been regular visitors to this gite since 2009. It is very well equiped, furnished to a very high standard, well maintained and very clean. It has a bright, modern interior in a traditional Breton farmhouse. The setting is tranquil and very rural with views over open countryside from all around since it is close to the top of a hill. There are six or seven other houses spread out in the vicinity so it is set in space but not isolated. It is ideal for walking an cycling straight from the door. A former railway line about 2 miles away has been converted for walking and cycling, running 30 miles or more across central Brittany, and can be reached down quiet lanes. The Nante-Brest Canal is also 30 minutes away by car and offers lovely walks and cycling drom Joselin or Rohan. The large village of Plemet is about 4 miles away for a supermarket, two bakeries and other shops. The north and south Breton coasts are about an hour away, as is Rennes. For us it provides a very restful and break and provides everthing we need. In the past it also provided a good place for our son to revise for A level exams.
