|Why this location?||We bought the villa primarily due to its location close such a lovely beaches (some in walking distance) in a village with facilities such as restaurants and the boulangerie. We also like the mid-century design of La Cigalette which has lots of character and the fact that it is close to the Channel ports such as St Malo, Caen and Cherbourg. The location is perfect for a family holiday.|
|Unique benefits of property||Proximity to many lovely beaches is the main unique benefit of La Cigalette.|
Beach, coast path, horse riding and tennis available in the village. Golf, sailing school in next village (Sable d'Or les Pins). Historic towns and sites within 40 minutes. Cycle paths in the area have recently been upgraded so Cap Frehel can now be considered a superb cycling location.
St Malo (45 mins). Budget flights available to Dinard (35 mins) or Rennes (90 mins).
Choice of restaurants within walking distance in Pleherel Plage.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Cigalette. The house is spacious and very well equipped. It is on a fairly quiet road and only a short walk from a local bakery, restaurant and a lovely beach. I personally really appreciated having a dishwasher, washing machine and tumble drier. The children loved the table tennis and we all enjoyed the selection of board games and DVDs. We had problems with the oven, which tripped the fuse on a few occasions and the lock on the front door was very stiff and needs to be changed. The first impressions of the house, on arrival, weren’t brilliant because the exterior of the house needs some work, but I believe the owner has arranged for some renovations to be carried out in the spring. The only other downside of the villa was the distance from a general store/supermarket. The nearest shop we found was about 20 minutes away, which was a bit annoying when you just want some basic groceries. Aside from a small number of issues we had a wonderful holiday and very much enjoyed the house and it’s fantastic location. Lots of fabulous beaches near by and some beautiful towns and villages to visit. We would definitely return again in the future.
Thanks for this review. The oven should not trip the electrics on its own and we have never experienced this, but we will investigate. There is a knack to the front door lock and we will double check that it is not getting any worse. You are right that we have exterior and interior decoration planned for Spring 2019 (following improvements such as building a deck in Autumn 2018). The local boulangerie does sell very basic groceries as well, and there is a butcher 5 mins drive away in Frehel. The nearest supermarket is Super-U in Erquy which is 10 mins drive. We agree about the fantastic beaches and you would be welcomed back at any time.
A lovely holiday house with character. We were very comfortable there and the owners were very helpful , communicated just the right information at just the right times, and made us feel welcome. We were an elderly party of four so the X box didn't get much of a workout, and the weather was so good we didn't stay in to play table tennis in the basement or run around the garden, but it is obvious that this is a happy home for families with children. We have visited Pleherel Plage many times, we love walking the beautiful coast and the visiting the many interesting places inland. The boulangerie a short walk away provides for breakfast and the SuperU at Erquy or Matignon has everything else we could wish for. There are plenty of nice places to eat nearby. In fact all the ingredients for a perfect holiday are here!
Many thanks for the positive feedback which is much appreciated. We are very pleased that you had a good stay in Pleherel Plage,
Tim and Jo
This is a lovely house for a large party, as there are lots of quiet spaces to relax in - the sun room, living room, dining room, basement games room, garden (sun loungers, table and chairs provided). It makes for a very spacious and quiet feeling, just right for a relaxing break. The table tennis and xbox are wonderful for kids. There is a large selection of board games, books and DVDs provided (for all ages). The village is quiet, with a local boulangerie and two restaurants within 10 minutes walk, all lovely. Food shopping locally is limited to gorgeous patisserie and bread plus a few non-perishables, but the supermarket at Erquy is huge and only 10 minutes drive away. The local beach and coastline are quite stunning, especially Cap Frehel and Cap Erquy. The owners were kind, helpful, informative, and handled all the arrangements for our booking promptly and efficiently.
Thanks for the positive feedback. We are very pleased when our guests enjoy our villa and the area as much as we do, Tim and Jo
