"An extremely comfortable, well-equipped cottage in a quiet, rural location. Although we went as a couple, it is very well suited for children - with play equipment in the garden and good provision made for babies or toddlers.
The area is beautiful with glorious beaches only 15 minutes away - as well as historic and fascinating towns in the near vicinity. The owners provide a very comprehensive guide to these - we found it really useful.
We enjoyed a wonderful, relaxing stay - and will definitely return".

I live in Eastbourne but enjoy spending some of the year in France looking after the house and gardens, and of course enjoying everything Briitany has to offer! Always happy to help to make your holiday a memorable occasion. My daughter Sarah helps me with the administration of the house too.

|Why this location?||The house is situated in a lovely rural setting, just 20 minutes drive from any number of beautiful sandy beaches and villages with good restaurants.|
|Unique benefits of property||Large garden, comfortable and fully equipped house in a lovely part of Brittany.|
We definitely recommend the restaurants here, at the side of the port. Our favourite is 'Les Abri des Flots'! They all have great menus and plenty of fresh, local seafood - the mussels are fabulous. The town surrounds the beach, which is sheltered on 3 sides (15 minutes away from house).
Slightly further afield is the famous cathedral of Mont St Michel - a cathedral which is reached by a causeway over the sea. A truly remarkable sight, approximately an hour's drive to the east of the house. Walking up the narrow pathway to the cathedral makes us think we are in Harry Potter - it's like Diagon Alley at the start of term!
Seaside resort created in the 1920's, with a wide boulevard down the centre and a fantastically long sandy beach. Situated on a bank of sand, there is also a south facing beach, which for much of the day just has a little stream of warm water running through it - great for little children to splash around in - and is often more protected from the wind than the main beach.
Another fantastic seaside resort, again just 15 minutes drive from the house! Beautiful white sands at this beach, and a new port/harbour with restaurants to one side. Great for watching marine activities. The town centre is perfect for families, plenty of cafes with a play area in the centre for the kids and cafes surrounding it for the parents (and a toy shop and ice cream shops to hand!).
The village of Henansal, where the house is located, contains a tabac, mini supermarket with fresh bread and croissants every morning, church, school, garage and hairdressers. It is approx.15 minutes walk/2 minute drive to the village. The village fete which celebrates the history of local professions and rural life takes place annually on 15th August. There are plenty of other festivals in the local area during the summer months - just look out for adverts on the roadside. Henanbihen is another village close by (30 minute walk/5 minute drive). It also has a little supermarket, a pharmacy, tabac, florist, butchers and boulangerie. Lamballe is the nearest large town (10 mins drive) with a variety of shops, a few restaurants and a weekly Thursday market. In Summer, Thursdays are definitely the best time to visit the town, as the National Horse Stud opens up for tours and carriage rides, and in the evening, there is a party in the main square with dinner and dancing. The lake is a peaceful place to take a stroll and the new swimming pool is good fun too. If you fancy a bit of proper shopping, the urban town of St Brieuc is great for this. There is a large cinema on the edge of town which often shows films in English, a bowling complex, swimming pool and an indoor play area for children (look for the industrial estate called Espace Brezilliet). Around half an hour's drive from the house.
There are a range of beautiful landscapes in the region of Cotes-d'Armor - from the wide expanses of countryside to the fantastic beaches and rock formations. Climate is similar to that of the South of England - April to August usually lots of sunshine, with June being especially lovely in the past few years. Places of Interest include: St Malo, Dinan, Dinard, (all within an hour's drive), and St Cast le Guildo, Erquy, Pleneuf Val Andre, Sables d'Or Les Pins, St Brieuc, Plancoet (easily reachable within 30 minutes). Further afield for full day trips are the Pink Granite Coast and Mont St Michel - both easily reachable in under 2 hours. The capital of Brittany, Rennes, is just an hour's drive. Plenty of great activities nearby for all the family, including the Grand Aquarium at St Malo, Cobac Parc near Dinan, Amoripark near Guingamp, the Labyrinth near St Malo, swimming pools at Lamballe and St Brieuc, kayaks for hire at Plancoet, boats and bikes for hire alongside the Rance at Dinan....to name but a few. Golf and water-sports within 20 minutes drive. Please contact the owner for suggestions of good days out to fit your requirements - after 10 years in the area, there are plenty of ideas for all ages!
Wonderful medieval town, around half an hour's drive away. The main town has some beautiful, old houses and shops, and we thoroughly recommend walking down the hill on the cobbled road lined with a variety of interesting shops to the little river port. The trek back up is not for the faint hearted, however, but there is a little tourist train which can take you back to the top of the town, with an audio guide outlining the town's history on the way. For a great day out, hire a little motorboat from the port for the afternoon and head downstream towards Port Lyvet for lunch - either at a restaurant or for a picnic at the side of the river. Or if you fancy a little more activity, bikes are also available to hire, with extra seats available for children - stop at the smoothie bar by the river on your way back for a refresher!
Dinard Market is a must-see! Open Tuesdays, Thursdays and with the busiest market on Saturdays, this market, just 45 minutes away, has a wide range of local delicacies, clothes, books, and amazing spread of fruit, vegetables and seafood. Dinard British Film Festival is held in September/October every year: a bit like Cannes of the North! Even Colin Firth made a surprise appearance 2 years ago. There is a lovely beach with stripey tents and a footpath which follows the coastline - some great views out to sea and of St Malo. We recommend visiting Dinard Market in the morning and taking a boat trip over to St Malo for the afternoon and is the best way to see St Malo is on the approach.
Fifteen minutes drive from the house. Long, sandy beach here, next to the lovely little town and promenade. Lots of great cafes for people-watching, casino, chic shops and a handful of good restaurants with the perfect holiday atmosphere. New hotel offers spa treatments. Walk over the headland to the little port of Dahouet, great views out to sea (around 45 minutes each way).
The beautiful walled town of St Malo is just under an hour's drive from the house. Head for Intra Muros for a fantastic range of restaurants and shops. Surrounded by a beach with islands you can access at low tide (one has a fortress and another has Chateaubriand's tomb), it's a great place to visit whatever the weather! Large aquarium with sharks and sea turtles, and a mini submarine ride at the end, great for rainy days!
