The Owner Recommends

Amoripark, Begard (20 minutes). A fun day out for all the family! Includes a small zoo, pedalo boating. Fantastic indoor/outdoor swimming with water slides, mini golf, football, bouncy castles etc. etc. Lots of places to have a picnic and a bistro/bar onsite. (note: when using public swimming pools no Bermuda shorts are allowed! Tight fitting costumes must be warn apparently for hygiene purposes!)

Beaches Explore the Pink Granite Coast (25 minutes). The amazing rock formations (best seen at sunset when they all glow pink), sandy beaches and private coves coupled with fabulous cliff walks make a lovely day out. One of our favourite beaches is Port Blanc (20 minutes) near Penvenon. Gorgeous sandy beach, great swimming and stunning rocks.

Breton Country Dancing

Breton Country Dancing and Music - Treguier. Held every Wednesday evening in the main square. A real experience where you can join in or sit with a tasse de cidre (cup of cider) and enjoy the proceedings. Starts about 9pm. This is just a taste of what is on offer in the local vicinity, please ask if there is something you would like to do and we will do our best to help.

Chateau de Roche Jagu

Set in beautiful grounds this ancient chateau is worth a visit. A great place for a picnic in the lovely grounds and also has an itinerary of activities, including music festivals and traditional Breton dancing throughout the summer.

Eating Out

There are lots of good places to eat nearby. Pontrieux has a very good pizza restaurant and a bistro serving traditional galettes and crepes. Both reasonably priced. Fine dining can be found at la Ville Blanche on the way to Lannion. For fantastic fish restaurants try Paimpol port.

Fishing - A permit to fish the river Trieux can be obtained from the harbour Master at the quay in Pontrieux.

Golf - Golf de Begard (20 minutes) Lieu-dit Koulz Bihan, 22140 Begard. Nine holes for all handicaps. Well kept and friendly. Offers equipment hire, billiards, clubhouse with bar.

Kayaking can be found at Club Nautique Pontrivien on the quay at Pontrieux.

Treguier has a bustling market, held every Wednesday morning, selling everything from clothes to food - worth a visit. Why not enjoy lunch after the market on the main square overlooking the cathedral.

Paintball - Begard (20 minutes). Well organised, secure site with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Tel: 02 96 95 06 18 (English spoken).

The Tourist office

The Tourist Office in Pontrieux is worth a visit (if only to admire the beautiful medieval building!).

Walking - there are many approved routes for all levels. Organised walks are also available and can be booked according to the dates you are staying. Please let us know if you are interested.

10 / 10 Stefan and Anna 26 August, 2017

This gite is truly delightful - in a peaceful country setting. Stuart and Anne are charming and gave us a great welcome, providing delicious cheese, cider and homemade jam, amongst other things. The bed was very comfortable and there is plenty of hot water. We found the gite to be everything that the advert had described.

The garden is lovely and provides lots of activities for children (you would need to book one of the bigger gites though!)

Runan is an ideal spot to explore the local area and is close to the lovely town of Pontrieux. The only thing we could have wished for was a boulangerie within walking distance!
