Beautiful medieval town, local market on Thursday mornings. Restaurants, cafes and bars, many with outdoor seating. Road train during the summer months to tour the town.
Visit the intra muros and walk around the outer wall, the beaches are lovely, the tidal pool with dive platform is a great hit with the children.
we had a delightful stay, the gite is so comfortable and the gardens so lovely it was peaceful which was what we needed our hosts Marianne and chris were so helpful and couldn't do enough for us. their daughter Francesca helped us in many ways as well. the surrounding countryside was so beautiful and our hosts helped us chose our days out admirably
Amazing, what more can we say! Such a beautiful gite in a stunning location, we could not have asked for more. Marianne and Chris were the perfect hosts and made us feel so welcome, as did their gorgeous little pooches, Etoile and Dexter! Roll on next summer as we can't wait to be back at La Roche es Lait!!!
You must visit La Roche es Lait. The advert describes the property well but doesn't mention the excellent hospitality. We arrived to a warm welcome & complimentary package of local provisions which incl apple juice & cider from the orchard at the property & eggs from the owner's hens. The gîte is clean, tidy, well maintained & located in a beautiful, peaceful setting having many home comforts & little luxuries. We loved sitting in the peace of the orchard whilst our kids (15 & 10yrs) loved the pool which is big enough for lounging around & very refreshing on a hot day (heated only by the sun). They also played badminton/pool/football -all provided & we used the bikes (provided) to explore the locality, & there's even free wifi = happy teens. The location is rural but close enough to civilisation for the necessities, we made good use of the CarreFour & lovely Boulangerie/Patisserie in Collinee which is about 10-15 mins drive. The owners provided lots of info on places to go/things to see. We travelled to Carnac, Quiberon, Dinan and Nantes all easily do-able in a day. The highlight for us was "Les Machines de l’île" in Nantes - we rode a 12m high mechanical elephant!! The property is a fantastic place to stay & relax but equally a great base for travelling out & if you don't fancy cooking on your return the owners offer a very reasonably priced meal service & the food is simply excellent! Excellent place, excellent people! Loved it, we'd definitely like to return.
A fantastic location for a peaceful holiday, garden and in door games for the younger ones to play and older ones and the young at heart to get involved with, the trampoline is a great addition for the younger ones. Only the brave dare to enter a cool pool, but we all did.
The local area is fantastic, with a great day out within 1 hour drive. Somewhere to suit everyone, from the history of St. Malo to the beach at Sables D'or Les Pins and the old street of Dinan.
An amazing gite with plenty of space, we would have no hesitation in recommending a stay, with great family hosts.
A very slight down side is a 15min drive to the nearest mini Supermarket, so come prepared for your fist night and next day.
