My family lived in this lovely country local hot spot for many years and embraced the village life and freedom. Children growing up : -) we now use the house for holidays to catch up with friends and re-charge our batteries. We have been successfully renting during the Summer for 3 years and its a pleasure to share our home and hear of other families good times.

|Why this location?||Centrally located, a pretty village renowned for its own micro-climate and limestone cottages! Offers a great country retreat and a village with a heart. Plenty to do locally including the nearby Lake and beach. Quite central and options in all directions. Close to historic Dinan. The great city of Rennes and the beautiful cote d'armor are all within 45mins drive.|
|Unique benefits of property||3 storey limestone cottage, spacious and light with high ceilings and great entertainment space in the converted barn. Indoor splash pool for lazy days to dip and drip dry. We have created a french rustic and relaxed atmosphere to enjoy. Great for families to spread out and find a quiet spot to relax or take advantage of the local cycling tracks and picnic spots leading to the Chateau du Hac and the Roman dig..|
Around 45 mins from the stunning coastline of the Cote d'Armor the emerald coastline, offers a diverse coastline from sandy gentle coves to rugged terraine and wild coastal paths. The seaside towns and villages of St Malo, Dinard, Cancale, Lancieux, Saint-Briac, Saint Lunaire, Saint Jacques, St Cast are all approx 35km. There is a huge variety including fishing ports, victorian traditional resorts, quaint seaside villages and quiet secluded spots.
A range of local cafes and restaurants offering the "midi" and evening dining. Located between 500m at 3 km. Offering a range of menus from country French cuisine, traditional gallettes and crepes, snacks and more modern menus to suit all tastes and in some cases age groups! The village is host to a creperie and bar offering a terraced garden and boules on an evening (500m). The latter is very popular with holidaymakers and locals - reservation is advisable. All child friendly and I would be happy to recommend any, and can provide specific details on each.
Lake Betineuc a 22 hec lake, situated around 3km from the house is an excellent asset to the local. This is a great spot for relaxing, offering a beach and safe, shallow swimming in a booned area. Popular in Summer for families and sports enthusiasts. Windsurfing and kayaking are offered. The local cafe serves lunches and snacks during the day. Lovely walks along the shaded paths and many quieter spots can be found occasionally occupied by those fishing. Fishing permits are obtainable from the local marine office, or some Tabacs. Accessible from the main road and the cycle paths (all but a short stretch of road)
The house situated next to the shady cycle track with picnic areas overlooking the railway station. Perfect for strolling cycling and joggers. The old disused railway line now marks the path through neighbouring villages and links to the main cycling routes through Brittany. Plenty of local history is situated just a stones throw away. Highlights include the Chateau du Hac (300m) and the significant Roman Villa unearthed in recent years which is free to visit. Tennis courts situated at neighbouring Trefumel and Evran within 1km and 3km. The neighbouring village of Evran is situated next to the canal and working locks.
The following are all within a 30 min drive: Bourbanaise zoo - set in parklands offer a number of mini events including a Birds of Prey display. Cobac Adventure Park - offering family fun and suitable for all ages. Dont forget your swimwear, as there is also a pool. La Labyrinthe du Corsaire - Adventure and discovery park for all the family. Activities to test your grey matter, but dont get lost in the Maze! Further to home 15mins - just outside Dinan at Lehon is the outdoor swimming centre offering 3 pools and picnic areas.
We are situated 15 mins south of the beautiful medieval city of Dinan. Home to the historic port bordering the Rance. Steeped in history, amble along the cobbled streets to discover the delights of this fair city. An abundance of cafes, restaurants and artisan shops. Just 5mins from the city centre, is the historic castle remains of Lehon which also borders the rance, and offers swimming in 3 outdoor pools, accompanied with picnic areas. For a cosmopolitan inspired day, we are 45 mins from the wonderful City of Rennes, capital to Brittany. A shoppers delight and again an historic treasure.
We had a lovely stay at La Madison du Repos, it was very hot and so the pool was a bonus. There was everything there we needed there. Le Quiou is a lovely village, and the creperie was very good. I was very impressed with the communication with the home owner prior to the trip which made the planning of out stay easy. Thank you.
Thank you very much for your lovely review. We are so glad you had a good holiday and that every thing ran smoothly We endeavour to make it as easy as possible so our guests are confident before they arrive.
We had a lovely stay at la maison de repos, where the kids spent most of their time in the pool room. The house has 3 floors with master and twin on the first floor and double, twin and bathroom on the second floor. The beds were comfy and bedrooms were large and had beautiful high-ceilings and wooden flooring. A balcony opens out from 2 of the bedrooms. There is also a shower and toilet on the ground floor near the pool area which is handy for during the day. We spent a few days visiting the local tourist places, hired a motor boat at Dinan for an hour for 42Euros, which was fun, visited Bourbansais zoo, St.Malo and Mont st Michel. Also ate some oysters at Cancale, which ticked something off my bucket list. The owner recommended a local restaurant at Evran called the vieux chien noir which we visited and had the most wonderful huge portion of moules frites. ( Great chips!) English speaking owners and very generous.
English channels on the TV, with plenty of dvds if needed. Kitchen had all that was required. The conservatory served us well and dried all our pool towels quickly as it gets really warm in there.
Sitting outside in the evening, we spotted a few lizards and heard some bats flying around. A lovely quiet setting on the outskirts of le Quiou, a great stay thank you.
Thank you for your great review. It's always a pleasure to hear when our guests have had a lovely holiday.
